Let's look at the Gibson Hummingbird and the inspiration for the Hummingbird, the Martin D-18, very similar specs:

That's not a fair comparison price wise.

 

Martin D18 - plain finish, plain pickguard, fretboard dots, no headstock inlays, no neck binding, bound body, multilayer purfling top, and no pickup.

 

'Bird - burst finish, embellished pickguard, parallelogram fretboard inlays, mop headstock inlays, bound neck, bound body, multilayer purfling top and back, and LR Baggs Element pickup.

 

The 'Bird gives the burst, bling and pickup for and extra $650.
