Kalamazoo KG10 problem

So you are saying this guitar has not a string change in 40 to 45 years? How long have you owned it?

Anyway, the guitar has a truss rod and is neither that old nor lightly built that string choice is critical in terms of survival. Just use what gauge and brand you like.

I use lights on mine. I hate bellies![url=http://s44.photobucket.com/user/AjayTaylor/media/AB/Arnie%20Johnson/2015-

I am pretty sure it was Norman Blake who once said never trust a guitar without a belly.

As I am not a fan of 1960s Gibsons I am not positive about it but I would guess the K-10 has a spruce bridge plate. First thing I would do is get a mirror and take a look under the hood. I have seen these things just chewed to pieces. While it is a wise move with regard to both sound and structural stability to replace them with a standard maple plate, needing to have it done makes the decision to do the swap a lot easier.
