Foo Fighters star Dave Grohl has injured his leg after falling off the stage during a concert in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The band were two songs into their set at the Ullevi stadium when the singer went to jump on a ramp but missed and fell into the security run.

"I think I just broke my leg," Grohl told the crowd as he lay on the ground.

"I'm going to go to hospital. I'm going to fix my leg. And then I'm going to come back.

"You have my promise right now that the Foo Fighters - we're going to come back and finish the show."

Eyewitnesses told the BBC that the band continued the concert, playing cover versions whilst Grohl sought medical attention.

He later reappeared to continue the concert, sitting in a chair with his leg bandaged.

It is not yet known whether his leg is actually broken.

The Foo Fighters are due to play Wembley Stadium next weekend, followed by a headline set at the Glastonbury Festival on 26 June.

This year has seen several musicians injured on stage.

Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine broke her foot leaping off stage at the Coachella Music Festival in April, while U2 guitarist The Edge misjudged his step and fell off the stage during the opening night of the band's Innocence and Experience tour.

Madonna also fell off stage during a live performance at the Brit Awards. The pop star continued her performance, but said she suffered "a little bit of whiplash".

Dave Grohl is a real trooper, and a rock and roll enthusiasts deluxe.

What I love most about him is that he not only rocks, he is a big fan of other musicians and their rock as well.

If you haven't seen his 2013 documentary Sound City, please treat yourself.

It is an excellent film.

Dave is cool as can be. Loved him in Nirvana and in Foo Fighters also. Broken leg? No problem, these people paid for a show and ill give it to them. That is a work ethic many young people can learn from.

Guest Farnsbarns

I've got tickets to see them next Saturday. They've cancelled this week's concerts. Hoping Saturday goes ahead.

Grohl is genuinely rock'n'roll. I'm not in the least surprised he played on. Head case!

Dave Grohl is The Man!

It's weird that I was a very casual Nirvana fan. Didn't hate them, but never felt the need to buy any albums. Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters on the other hand, I love just about everything they've done. :-k
