jdgm
I actually remember seeing this - the Buddy Rich episode! The drummer who played Animal's parts was a highly-respected English drummer called Ronnie Verrell. Rich would have known him well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Verrell A memory; I always used to go see drummer Elvin Jones when he played Ronnie Scott's in London, which he did almost every year for over 20 years. One night in the late 70s I was in the front row really digging Elvin (with amazing guitarist Roland Prince in the band) so I didn't look round when 3 men in overcoats got seated at a table right behind me. Just then Elvin went into the drum solo of doom and the energy level he put out went right up and off the scale. At the end of the number he jumped up, got on the mic and introduced the 3; Buddy Rich, Shelly Manne, Louis Bellson. WOW!!!
