Hello and welcome to the Forums!

This guitar's (#678458) specs are consistent with the '71/'72 Gibson Goldtop Std. '58 Reissue. 25 pieces were crafted in 1971, and 1046 in the following year.

Congratulations! It'a unique and rare instrument. But most importantly: a beauty!

Best wishes... Bence

I don't think there is a way to tell the Shipping Date from a serial number. it could have sat in w where house for a year or two, then it could have set in a store for another year before someone purchased it. I think you would need to contact the Gibson Company directly, and maybe they would know when it shipped from the factory, but i highly doubt that they would keep something like that on record.

Thank you Bence,

I was hoping for a more precise dating,

maybe someone could chime in with

shipping dates?

cheers Hanno

Unfortunately, there are no shipping ledgers from the 1970's to tell what dates they may have shipped from the factory.
