Good work, Sal. And yeah, I can hear the Neil Young thing going on too. My kind of recording: voice...yep....instrument....yep......Go! Live & raw, right up my alley. Well done. Sorry to hear of the passing of your friend, and so quickly. Yogi lives on in memories though............

Sal, so sorry to hear the news... There are no words for such a thing, at least not any I can think of at this moment.

Great job on the song. When I hear something like that, I have to wonder, why would anyone want anything more than just guitar and voice?

I hear the Neil Young vibe too, but I like your singing better than his. :)

The Hummingbird sounds great. Listen to that bass, the nice, full, warm sound, and the way it never takes over your voice's sonic space.

Yogi is a good name for a good being. May he still be with you.

Thanks for sharing this, Sal. Superbly done. And thanks for making it even more poignant by showing us a pic of Yogi.......I don't hear so much Neil Young in this. I hear "Sal." Very real. You do the song your way and that makes it yours. Keep doing what you're doing.

I have been playing an awful lot lately. Thanks for putting up with my sharing stuff. I'll slow down some now. This is a Ryan Adams song I did on my Hummingbird today, and its dedicated to our basset hound Yogi, who we put down this weekend.

Awful about your dog, Sal.

I can't listen to your track - this computer has no sound. Will listen later.

You get compared to Neil Young and Jesse ran out of words.

Seems this dog has powers from the other side.

I've been searching for a key for that song myself, I don't think there is one that works for me. Always liked it. That was great Sal.

Now, put the neck rack on and get the harmonica part in there too!!

:)

Well wishes from your Irish pal

Yes, very sorry about your four legged mate. They give so much unconditional love and dont stick around for long enough.

The track sounds great, definitely hear a lot of Neil Young in the voice, and the Bird also sounds lovelly.

A fitting tribute for the pooch.

I agree with Larry. Get another.

We just did it, well in advance (we hope) for the impending demise of our best ever Shar Pei.

Went with a Catahoula this time.

You have developed a really good, no, great style and sound my friend.

Best to you.

Here you go, buddy. Just remembered this....For Yogi.....and lots of other 4-legged friends. About the only thing as cool as a good guitar is a dog.

Old Dogs by Larry Garrett

I have a friend who is dying.

Ive known him for twelve years or so.

Twelve years is a fraction of my life,

But its a lifetime as a dogs life goes.

We used to walk in the evening.

Wed walk for a mile, maybe more.

Now we just leave the front porch

And hes pulling me back to the door.

He used to bark at strange noises

And people that he didnt know.

Now he just stares into space.

I doubt that hell see the next snow.

Chorus……

Yes Lord, old dogs are hard to let go of. They kind of take root in your soul.

They grow-up inside of your heart, and then you cant let them go.

Trips to the vet are more often.

The vet frowns and says, Hes not good.

I may have to make a decision.

Lord, I dont know if I could.

At night I sit on the sofa.

And he rests his head on my knee.

He stares into my face

As if hes trying to speak to me.

So I look into his eyes.

I hear his jaws squeak when he yawns.

And I know what hed like to say:

Who will take care of you when Im gone?

Chorus……

Yes Lord, old dogs are hard to let go of. They kind of take root in your soul.

They grow-up inside of your heart, and then you cant let them go.

And Lord, there just one more thing, that I think you ought to know.

If hes not up there in heaven, I dont think I want to go.

Yeah. That sums it up. With our last basset, Sandy, she was bad for a year. Yogi went from fine to knockin' in the span of three weeks. C got her liver and lungs metastatically. She must have had it a few months. But man... In three weeks. With a year you prepare yourself.

Sandy was blind at age 6 and lived till 11. We actually drove to a breeder in Vermont to get Yogi as a companion dog to keep Sandy company, and to keep her happy after she lost her sight.

Yogi was from a Best In Show family, but himself "imperfect". That breeder doesnt sell dogs; they let us adopt Yogi because of Sandy and they liked what we were doing.

Well Yogi was imperfect to show, but he was perfect to us, and the gentlest friend.

Rest in peace Yogi.
