Sunburst2
I bought an Epiphone Casino from Reverb in a Natural Finish, I ran the Serial number inside the f holes and it was found to have been made in 2010 in china, which I expected. The logo shape on the head stock also matched with others that I searched for on the internet. But the one thing that leaves me skeptical was that it doesn't have a number on the back of the head stock and it feels very coarse, and I couldn't feel the finish on the guitar. Is this normal for natural casinos or is it most likely fake? The seller has very high reviews on reverb.
brad1
Why would they put the serial number on the back of the headstock if they put it in the f hole??? You couldn't feel the finish? So it feels like unfinished wood? Really?
flyingarmadillo
My 2005 MIK only has a serial number on the label, nothing stamped anyplace.

Yeah it felt odd, kinda rough, but confused me. Normally finishes are smooth but is this just how this one was was supposed to be?
Sleeko
How about some pics?. Is the guitar finished in a satin finish?

LPS1976
These are some pics. Also another indicator, no metal volume indicators next to the knobs is this guitar a refurbished model? the tuners don't look original but I can't see them that great with the small pic. metal volume indicators could have been removed from the previous owner so I wouldn't worry about that. Zentar
That is an Epi Casino. Pics are blurry but I see nothing fake. I cant make out the tuners but tuners can be changed.

I had to make a new account sorry. Yeah the original tuners were replaced by the original owner. Now the only thing that worries me is the matte finish feeling. Zentar
Go play your Casino and stop watching youtubes on counterfeit guitars.
LPS1976
Go play your Casino and stop watching youtubes on counterfeit guitars. why comment if you don't have anything to offer? this guy obviously has concerns with the guitar he has and not just random guitars he saw on the internet. Matt4356
Maybe the previous owner sanded the finish like lennon?

flyingarmadillo
You said you ran the serial number. Where? If it was Guitar Dater it's not that accurate. Will you give us the first 6 digits of the number? the 1995 - 2005 had 17th fret neck joins along with some of the Japan market ones. They should be able to at least tell you if the serial number matches the guitar. My guess would be that someone modified it. The serial number seems to fit a 2010, but could be just odd.. burchster
It's real. Very rare to find a faked Epi. The owner probably wanted to sand the thick poly finish off. And yes the neck joins at the 17th fret.
hotpockets
I know this is an old thread, but to the OP - did you ever find out more info on this guitar? I just grabbed one used from Sam Ash - I really liked the rough finish and the body seemed a bit more resonant than a standard Casino. I can't find any info on the guitar though. The tag on the inside reads "Casino - Sealer Coat"
Larsongs
The Ltd. Run Epi Inspired By John Lennon Casino's were available as a Revolution in a Matte Natural finish & had Gold Grover Tuners. USA Gibson P90's, Swtchcraft upgrades including Input Jack & 3 way Switch. They are very good Guitars...

Thanks in advance! Looks legit to me. And it has the nice Rosewood fretboard, unlike Pau Ferro stuff on the newer issues of the last couple of years. Does it have a tag like this inside the left f hole?
