2010 Epiphone Casino : Fake or Real?

I bought an Epiphone Casino from Reverb in a Natural Finish, I ran the Serial number inside the f holes and it was found to have been made in 2010 in china, which I expected. The logo shape on the head stock also matched with others that I searched for on the internet. But the one thing that leaves me skeptical was that it doesn't have a number on the back of the head stock and it feels very coarse, and I couldn't feel the finish on the guitar. Is this normal for natural casinos or is it most likely fake? The seller has very high reviews on reverb.

Why would they put the serial number on the back of the headstock if they put it in the f hole??? :-k

You couldn't feel the finish?

So it feels like unfinished wood?

Really? [confused]

I just didn't know how exactly that whole thing worked out with the serial number thanks for clearing that up. Yeah it felt odd, kinda rough, but confused me. Normally finishes are smooth but is this just how this one was was supposed to be?

These are some pics. Also another indicator, no metal volume indicators next to the knobs

is this guitar a refurbished model? the tuners don't look original but I can't see them that great with the small pic. metal volume indicators could have been removed from the previous owner so I wouldn't worry about that.

I had to make a new account sorry. Yeah the original tuners were replaced by the original owner. Now the only thing that worries me is the matte finish feeling.

of course! and yes i believe it was guitar dater. 101015

Send pictures for the guitar and the serial number to Gibson Customer support. They should be able to at least tell you if the serial number matches the guitar. My guess would be that someone modified it. The serial number seems to fit a 2010, but could be just odd..

I know this is an old thread, but to the OP - did you ever find out more info on this guitar? I just grabbed one used from Sam Ash - I really liked the rough finish and the body seemed a bit more resonant than a standard Casino.  I can't find any info on the guitar though.

The tag on the inside reads "Casino - Sealer Coat"

Looks legit to me.   And it has the nice Rosewood fretboard, unlike Pau Ferro stuff on the newer issues of the last couple of years.

Does it have a tag like this inside the left f hole?
