Gibson Artist Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 I just read on Reverb that Gibson is lowering prices! Is this true? They say the Les Paul Standard will be 2799 and the SG Standard will be 1199! I also heard they are re introducing the faded models! I wonder if that means the faded les paul standards will be back? Is Gibson turning back the clock a little on prices? If so, they get my eternal grattitude. https://reverb.com/blog/breaking-gibson-to-revert-prices-and-specs-on-2016-models?_aid=fb
Rabs Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Well the line up we have seen so far lacks the G-Force stuff... which is probably why they can drop the price... And yes the faded studios are back.. But I haven't seen any standards like that.. I think the Faded Standards look way cool... Also there is a rumour that what may happen is Gibson will release two line ups.. the T range (traditional specs) and a second one (maybe the Future range? (haha the FU range ) with some or all of the specs from 2015...
charlie brown Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Let's wait, for Gibson's announcement(s), and see...what turns up in our dealer's stores! All we have now, is rumors, and speculation. CB

CB Well the 2016s are coming up all over the place now... They are also now at Sweetwater http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=gibson+2016&Go=Search And still not a single robot tuner in sight.... will be pretty shocked if they just dump the G-Force... I mean really, as much as I didn't want it, there are plenty of people who do.... theyd be crazy to waste it. Even the wider necks.. id never buy one cos I like smaller necks.. but again, there are many people who like a wider board to play on.. I think its all about choice... Give people an option... HOWEVER... I don't know the logistics of changing all the tools over for doing different runs.. maybe its not worth their while to support both?? At the moment there are 46 new models when you do a search.. so we will see soon enough I guess...

That would be interesting, then people who are more traditional wouldnt have to have the things they dont want, but people who do want it can still get it.

Check the link and decide for yourself tho.

Yeah, I only meant that, regarding possible models (to come), and price changes being really a "Roll back," or just the difference between what they were with the G-Force, and what they would be, without. Seems like, in some cases, they might actually be even less, than just without the G-Force would indicate? But, who knows (yet), really??? CB

CB Sweetwater has 2016 faded studios as low as 659 bucks for black or cherry. Firstburst & Worn brown are 799 faded. Dam, 659 bucks for a new les paul studio? That is really rollin back the calender there. Yeah, its a basic finish, but who cares, its a workingmans guitar you can relic quickly yourself. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LPSTFOSECH

I have a Goldtop version (from 2010) but mine has a light natural colour back (and man I love that guitar as much as my Standard or Classic).. I wish theyd do that again, while they are still cool I don't think they look quite as nice with a dark back.. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LPST60THDCH

Interesting, on Sweetwater, they have a bunch of 16 models, but not the sg or firebird yet?? And wouldnt you know it, i got an email from them sayin my credit limit with them went up today haha. New models, open credit, gas is a bad thing lol.

Gibson aint playing around this year!
Tman Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 The Firebirds are 1099. Damn. I paid just under 1700 (traded in stuff but the values used were right at $1700). Quite a drop.
SteveFord Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I hope they don't do the one by one, up up and away price hikes like they did in 2014. Remember the New Lower Prices that lasted a few months? That would be unwelcome.
StRanger7032 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I see a Firebird in my future! That's a new guitar for a used price. I've been GASsing for one for a year now, and I think now is the time!

I've been GASsing for one for a year now, and I think now is the time! I only see the Sunburst one, i was really hoping for a red one. But even Sunburst is beautiful. 1099 is awfully hard to pass up, these prices may not last.

I would guess they're only going to have that deal for a few weeks to get interest going in the 2016 models. I just pre-ordered one at the bargain price. I'm not a big sunburst fan, but that's the color I always think of when I imagine a Firebird. I played one last year (same guitar with a retail price $600 higher) and I really liked it.
Tman Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 $600 worth of lack of pigment. I love this thing though, would probably do it again.

Although I'm concerned the "F" series, if it becomes a thing; might just repeat the 2015 range mistakes. I'd like to see them include the removable pickguard, frets over binding (I care not, for nibs), and the newer pickups. It would have been nice to have seen all models with their own (not gold or square) case on the new stuff, too, but then prices would be going up again, I guess.
