Rabs Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I do like some comical rock when its good... and theres plenty of subtle humour as well as in your face songs.... Whats your favourite funny rock or guitar songs? These two come to mind first for me :)
saturn Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 A lotta Frank Zappa songs come to mind, but first on the list would have to be "Dinah Moe Hum".
Karloff Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 anything by Spinal Tap, & Dirty Love by Zappa.
Silvercrow Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Zappa circa "200 motels" era! But my favorite by him would be a tie between "Camarillo Brillo" and "Moving to Montana" (Dental Floss Tycoon). The man was WARPED! I like that! Not "rock" but definately "rock era" Firesign Theater "The Continuing Adventures of Porgy Tirebiter" ("Porgy, Tirebiter, he's a student and a girl delighter...") Brian
RowdyMoon Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 ....any of the " Flo and Eddie " Mothers of Invention era is great stuff !!....Just another band from L.A is one of my favorite albums.
Rabs Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 I must admit to Tenacious D being a bit of guilty pleasure.. they are very silly, but I really think Jack Black has a great voice and he is an obvious rock enthusiast which is why I like him as well.
Rabs Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Who plays the devil in that vid? Dave Grohl :) (as he does in the film too) (comes with swear warnings)
IanHenry Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp8-jITevuw Not quite rock but I think it's funny. Ian
Rabs Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Not such an obvious one.. but Jimi was a funny man... And this whole song leads to that great punch line.. If my baby don't love me no more, I know, her sister will :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_rRJIAQapg
surfpup Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Humor is always good... from the slightly wry and witty to the way over the top. And speaking of over the top...
darling67 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 A lotta Frank Zappa songs come to mind, but first on the list would have to be "Dinah Moe Hum". I heard Dinah Moe Hum on the radio, one recent morning, as I drove to work... almost drove off the road it was so funny.
darling67 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 One band that comes to mind when I think of "humor"—among other things—is AC/DC. Bon Scott had much to do with their humorous side. The music was great AND funny at the same time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26wrvblgGP0
darling67 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Dave Grohl :) (as he does in the film too) (comes with swear warnings) I love that final scene... in spite of the profanity (which actually makes it funnier).
Rabs Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Also Johnny Cash comes to mind with some humorous lyrics and talk about Frank Zappa :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IkOT1-vd6A
sg50 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 FotC FOREVER http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hDJFuR9-8Y And JoCo, of course. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9O-ra3RZeHk To be continued because this forum has some PONDEROUS rules.
sg50 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 And rewind to 1990 to the rock sounds of Scatterbrain Naturally, all of these artists have many more tracks that every bit as good as these and often better.
daveinspain Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 This has to be the funniest video I have seen, EVER…!!!

cookieman15061 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Steely Dan and Fountains of Wayne both have pretty sly senses of humor.
