badbluesplayer Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I just finished building this Fender Deluxe 5E3 reproduction. I found the NOS cabinet with a Weber 12A125A Alnico and a Deluxe tag for real cheap. Sounds great, no calories. SLIDESHOW HERE
Hall Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Wow, and well done! Must be a really good feeling of accomplishment on that one.
Pesh Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Looks pro, dude! Great work. Did you have any step-by-step photos from the build?
Rabs Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Looks sweet. Good job Are we going to get to hear it?
kidblast Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 as always BBP, you do marvelous work. love to hear it,, love even more to plug into it...
stein Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I would be interested to know, your opinion: Tell us, if you would, how does that speaker sound? Is it a ribbed or smooth cone? Have you any genuine Jensen P12Q's to compare to? Personal interest to me, as I have a Combo with 2 '61 Jensens, and one is blown. I have heard more than a few of the Webers, but not that particular one, and not in a particular comparison to the original. Also, as for Webers in general, are good sounding speakers, and maybe even the "best" of what they are (As in, like real Jensens).
sg50 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Looks great! Why the Fender badge? Maybe that's a different topic. I see folks do it with blackface and tweed clones as well as with partscasters... they build their own thing, and then they give credit to Fender. Why is that? Surely not to trick people. Out of fear of being judged by haters? Because Fender's brand is superior? It has an air of counterfeit to it, like a Chibson. To me, anyway. I built a tweed Champ clone. It was from a mojotone kit, all I did was follow instructions. It's not like I designed it, I just read a sheet and breathed a little solder smoke. But still, I'm not giving Fender any credit for it. It's still unbadged, but when a badge goes on there, it isn't going to say Fendurr.

We've sold maybe 25 or 30 amps under our brand and that's great too. But I bought this cabinet from a guy who got it in some kind of storage unit sale. It's at least as good as I can make 'em. It had a NOS tag and a Weber 12a125a in it and I just repositioned the tag, which is no small feat in itself. Plus, my tags look too big on this cab. And I don't make amps without a tag anymore. Looks riffy.
Kaiser Bill Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 I hope it gives you years of great playing. I remember when this style was new... You did a great job.
badbluesplayer Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 Gut shot - "You can put your 'shine in there, man!"
