Bent Olav Olsen Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Because iof GAS I have been looking at pictures of old and new casinos. And I can't decide if I like natural, cherry or sunburst most. They all look good. What's the color of your casino? Or what do you like most? If I should pick one today I probably would have gone with a natural. Very cool vintage look.
rjc0 Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Vintage sunburst because I couldn't get / afford / not willing to pay for an original 1964 with Iced Tea burst and my playing is no where good enough to warrant it and I'm not a guitar collector. The naturals I've seen I've not liked at all and cherry doesn't do it for me either, haha. Really pleased with the VS.
Dennis G Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Sunburst, even though it's probably my least favorite finish/color. I already have a natural Dot, and a cherry red Guild Starfire IV, so the sunburst was the iconic look I felt I needed. See avatar.
Bent Olav Olsen Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 zeplin- Nice familly picture ! :)
Jon S. Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I like the Naturals myself, and nice collection Tweed!!
kensh999 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I have a 2014 Casino Coupe in Natural, and I'm very pleased with the finish, looks better in person than photos. However it might depend on what other guitars you own, I personally like to have a variety of colors but some folks enjoy consistency. Ken
Bent Olav Olsen Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 I have a red telecaster, a white strat and a black Es-335 so .... Sunburst, cherry or natural is all ok as long as they want to play:) depends on what color is imported to Norway. And the price. Looks like the natural is less expensive. And pretty:)
tweed2 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I like the Naturals myself, and nice collection Tweed!! Oh, it doesn't stop there.....Thanks. or....
Bent Olav Olsen Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 Oh, it doesn't stop there.....Thanks. or.... Tweed - I think we can see a pattern here? Awsome collection of guitars !
stein Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Oh, it doesn't stop there.....Thanks. That FT-Texan acoustic there really looks like it could use a black guard on it. Not saying that cause it's your thing (which is quite cool), but I actually think it would look better.
stein Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Don't have a Casino, and likely won't, but if I was, VERY good chance it would have to be the sunburst. And a lot of that is because not only is it one of my favorite looks, the way Epi's are with the shade going along the whole body, but also, unique to these and not found on a lot of others.

The Texan was the only guitar without a black guard. Quite the eye for detail there, Mr Stein.

I'm sure that I've missed out on a few really great guitars, only because they don't comply. Could be the beginning of mental disorder......
stein Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 .....Quite the eye for detail there, Mr Stein. Detail?! DETAIL!?!? No where else could a guy see as many guitars with the same "motif", it's never been done. I've never seen so many in one place. Ever. SOME of those were never made with the color combo. I guess there's detail for ya.
Jon S. Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Oh, it doesn't stop there.....Thanks. or.... Have Mercy....
Ed Zeplin Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 zeplin- Nice familly picture ! :) Thank you.

I have a similar affinity for black guitars and have made some mistakes on guitars for following this rule. I didn't need this casino but I couldn't resist and have not been disappointed. Traded a Gibson Faded DC in black for it. P90 for P90. Nice collection you have there. Even my mandolin is black.
taxman Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I like both the burst and natural (and John Lennon) so I bought one of each. First one I bought was the burst, so I guess I like that color better. I'm not looking for a third Casino, but, man, the color of the Gary Clark Jr. models is very nice:
flyingarmadillo Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Both of mine a sunburst so I guess that's my choice:
merciful-evans Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I prefer the sunburst finish. I even prefer the type sunburst on Casinos in preference to ES-335s because of the spread of light & dark. Its different on all the ones I have seen so far anyway. However, I have a Cherry Casino Coupe, simply because the shop only had a Cherry in stock that day and it happened to be a particularly good player. I would much rather buy a good guitar immediately. Had I waited for another I might not have liked it so much; and while waiting, the good Cherry one would likely be sold. All 3 finishes are great. The natural looks best when on the stand, but appears larger in use due to its hue. The cherry is the most eye catching, and the sunburst enhances the Casino shape so well.
rbachman Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I prefer the Natural for the Casino ....
Ed Zeplin Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Both of mine a sunburst so I guess that's my choice: Both bursts are so different. What models are they? I notice the necks join the bodies at different places.
