aerohead Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Sal I'm just wondering about your guitar display case in this pic. Where did you get it? Does the door seal enough to keep the humidity constant during the winter?http://s123.photobucket.com/user/TheMaryAlice/media/IMG_2864_zpsf4q5c2nk.jpg.html

I cant remember where I got it; it was mail order. It wasnt this place, but it was about the same cost. Mine has a Plexiglas display - not glass - which would be quite heavy. I use a Vicks humidifier in the room, into which I put about a gallon of distilled water into each day. So the room is humidified well in our dry winters. Additionally inside the case, I also put a coffee mug filled with water and a sponge, and refill as necessary. My guitars have never had any humidity issues in the winter with this setup. Hope this helps.
Lars68 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I have this: It is an old cupboard. I removed the glass shelfs, sealed the door with rubber strips, and attached a guitar hanger to the back. Works like a charm! I keep two Kyser lifeguard humidifiers lying inside during winter and have no problems. Lars

Jesse_Dylan Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I'm jealous of you folks that can run a humidifier all winter! If I did that, my house would fall apart from mold, the ceilings would get wet, and the windows would be fogged and frozen. I can do it until it gets REALLY cold, though, and it's wonderful wonderful. And then I suffer with the central heat forced air dryness while my guitars bathe happily in their humid cases.
aerohead Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Love it! I will be keeping my eyes open on the used furniture section in my newspaper. 1442335715[/url]' post='1694074']nnI have this: It is an old cupboard. MissouriPicker Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Super and elegant.........The case looks great too.
ksdaddy Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I just picked up a 1946 K&F lap steel, serial #595. I'd like to find a small one to put it in. Fire extinguisher size sorta.
