Rabs Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I got a voucher from my sister on my birthday for go carting a short while back.... and used it today. Never done it before as an adult and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but it was loads of fun.. I had two goes which last about 20 mins each and you get stats at the end about what your fastest lap speed was and stuff.... And cos you are so low to the ground it feels like you are going REALLY fast.. not sure how fast they went, something like 40mph or so... REALLY REALLY good fun Anyone else ever done it before? Heres a clip I took before we went on to give you an idea.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZBme-21MAE
skilsaw Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 A person can only play guitar for 6 or 7 hours a day. What are you going to do with the rest of your time? Go Carting!!! Now I know what is missing in my life.
10K-DB Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Anything w/a motor + wheels is fun,,looks like a great time
Dennis G Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Karts are a hoot. I've raced cars for 20+ years and found that karts are far more physical (they'll beat you up). There are a lot of pro drivers (Indy, F1, Sports cars, etc.) that not only started in kart's, but still race them in the off season to stay in shape. I'd also recommend an indoor electric karting venue if you have one in your area. You'll think you're going a lot faster than you really are!

Obviously the whole cart is shaking and theres no suspension so if you go over one of the stripy corner areas you REALLY feel it, the steering is hard and you gotta hold on for dear life :) Only when I got home I realised most of my body was aching. But in a fun way... They are so low and flat that the worst that happens is that you spin out... Cool though.. id do it again for sure.. and yes there is an indoor one actually, maybe I will check that one out next :)
LPguitarman Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Go-Carts... Done it several times in Branson, MO. A little expensive, but very fun, especially on the spiraling wooden tracks.

Retired Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I haven't been on one for over a decade but they are a blast! Love them. Way back when I drag raced, we were having our suspension welded to our race car and body shell welded on and such. The guy was just putting the final touches on to a race go cart that went up to speeds of over 200 mph. I guess they race those things on oval tracks such as the Indy or Daytona. No roll cage either, and no seat belt. If they lose control, they have bails of hay to roll into, and they want to fall off those go carts at those speeds and take there chances rather then be strapped in. Imagine 200 mph on a go cart. They use motor cycle engines. Or whatever. Crazy!
Dennis G Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Well this was £40 for two races.. which I think is pretty good... Trust me. That's pocket change compared to what it takes to put a car on the track for a weekend.

Karts have a very low center of gravity, but you can get airborne if you touch wheels, and I can't imagine that, not strapped in, and no roll cage. You're right...CRAZY!
