Californiaman Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Anytime I can see Dave Alvin I know I'm in for a great show. He's touring with his big brother Phil now and wow... what a great show. Their touring in support of the new album, "Lost Time." New stuff, old stuff, Big Broonzie, Big Joe Turner songs and some classic Blasters magic from the 80s. Oh yeah. "Marie, Marie," "American Music," and one of my favorites, "Boarder Radio." Those fine fellows even personalized one of the bands posters for me when I caught them out back having a smoke before they went on. Got both Dave and Phil to sign it. I also got their set list. Hey... those Guilty Ones (backing band) aren't too shabby themselves. Lisa Pankratz on drums straight up amazing drummer. Chris G. Miller on the telecaster guitar (what an incredible slide player he is). And Brad Fordham on bass guitar. I hate using my i-phone for a camera. They're not very good—at least the one I use. 5S or something like that. Any who... if you get the chance, go see some real good American music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O0X4JQPwRo
surfpup Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Bet that was good. I loved those guys way back when the were The Blasters.
Californiaman Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 It was a fantastically good time had by one and all. Pointing his finger right at me—I was wearing my favorite rock-a-billy shirt—Dave Alvin said to the audience, "Now let me tell you about hustlers. You gotta' be hustler, to wear a shirt like that." Yeah... great performance. Good time had by everyone there. Oh... and Phil Alvin's pipes are still ringing loud and clear.
