Retired
Still snowing as I speak. Tried the new snow blower out on the back driveway and it's covered again. Much cooler, 19 for a high.

Digger
Bloody hot again! 37C or 104F for the last day of the year. Too hot to get much work done so it will be inside until it's time to go out in the cooler evening (I hope it's cooler) and have a drink to celebrate the passing of another year. Retired
16 degrees. Sunny out at least. Looking at 25 for a high at 1:00 then it drops back down. Rob, you need to pack up and move the kin folk to Washington Seatle. It rains there 6 months out of the year, never have to mow because it's always raining, doesn't get hot like down under, you can get a house boat and fish off the deck even in the rain, and you don't have to worry about those bush fires. It's a beautifull city too.

It's a beautifull city too. Too many people for me Rtd thanks. If there is a vehicle coming down the highway when I pull out of my street I'm inclined to see the council about putting lights in!!! Too busy! I avoid going into town as much as I can this time of year because of all the holiday makers and besides I have my own little world here in the bush. Bloody hot last night so in between courses we took our guests down to sit on the wall of the dam where the breeze across the water was cooler. We listened to the frogs and watched the stars coming out. So 33C or 96F here today but an active low system spinning down from the north over the weekend to possibly form an "east coast low" where it might sit over the bottom RH corner of the continent for a few days, giving us a drenching. Hopefully not quite as much as you poor buggers in Britain are getting though. Most of our good rains come from such systems where we are situated in the east of the state. Digger
A pretty violent hailstorm followed by (literally) horizontal rain, came through here yesterday afternoon and that cooled things down a lot! Today is a comfortable 22C (74F) and showery.

stein
Portland is in a sheet of ice right now. TERRIBLE to drive in. Not much snow, maybe a couple inches, but the freezing rain, the melting during the day and freezing at night has made the streets literally, a slick, solid sheet of ice. My truck slide down the driveway...it was just sitting there. Now it's just "resting" against the garage. By contrast, for about 3-4 days staring NYE, the weather was BEAUTIFUL, totally clear. So much so, I HAD to go to the coast (although, had better reasons to go...). Even the coast was clear. It stayed that way until it was time to go. There IS a God. Digger
22C (74F) and I'd better not complain about the weather, had I? It's still raining but tomorrow (Thursday) the rain cell is expected to move offshore and by the weekend it should be clearing up and warming again. Hasn't been a good week for families on holidays and camping!!

I can remember in my 20's, I drove from Omaha Nebraska to Colorado Springs after work on a Friday to pick up our Arrow dynamics chassis for the dodge colt race car. An all 4130 chrome Molly tubbed frame with a 12 point cage. The roads and interstate were ice packed solid the entire way. My top speed most of the way was 20 miles per hr. Less in many areas. I was so tired, driving all through the night to get there right before they opened shop. ICE, It's Certainly Entertaining! Thank God we made it there and back with no accidents.
