Collum170
So I had an idea. I was looking at my G-400, and I really don't like the covers on the humbuckers. Could I remove the covers from these stock pickups, melt away the wax with a blow dryer, and clean them up a bit? I feel like it would improve both the look and the sound possibly, at least until I get some new ones. Note: I don't mean remove all the wax, just the excess. I'm not planning on boiling them or anything.
LPS1976
you should be able to remove the couple of dabs of solder that hold the covers on and then clean them up.

You think the uncovered pickups would still fit and everything?
LPS1976
You think the uncovered pickups would still fit and everything? sure. you will have a small gap between the pickup ring and the pickup but most uncovered pickups show space between them. you can always put them back on. And blowdrying the wax off the outside won't kill it?
