farewell

I was talking to a good friend from Gibson and he told me that Jeremy Morton would be leaving at the end of the month. It's a sad thing for sure as Jeremy was a good friend to this forum and always gave great information and help to us.

It was a rare thing to have someone at Gibson/Montana that actually cared about the customer. He will be missed.

In the early days Customer Service was done in Bozeman by a string of grossly incompetent Customer Service Reps. As a joke I asked the last lady rep Gibson hired how many strings on a 12 string guitar and she said she would look it up. Pitiful....

Then things were centralized in Nashville and Customer Service is now done there. Jeremy was totally knowledgeable of Montana products and could go to the source to get questions answered. He walked a fine line between helping folks and upsetting the management in Nashville. If Gibson hires someone to take over his responsibilities I doubt that they will be afforded the opportunity to do the job Jeremy did. Jeremy is a great player as well as a working musician and he understands the wishes and needs of players.

In the past Nashville sent the new Customer Service reps to Montana to train. I'm not sure that is the case anymore. They have a huge responsibility and it must be terribly difficult for them to be knowledgeable on all of the Nashville product as well as the Montana stuff.

I really just wanted to thank Jeremy for all of his wonderful work on behalf of all of us. I hope he is happy in his new life and want him to know he will always have friends in Bozeman.

Very sad to see Jeremy go. He has helped so many folks here on the forum, and has been a greatly appreciated representative of the company.

Best wishes to Jeremy, wherever the road may lead him.

At least the lady rep you were talking to was willing to research. One should always see the good side of a person.

It's always bad when a knowledgeable, helpful person quits a job. I hope with you that Jeremy will be happy in the future. Though I don't know anything about him besides what came up on these fora, I'm confident a guy like him will get it right, whatever he decided to do in the future.

We'll miss Jeremy. He has helped countless numbers of people on this forum.

Customer service is an art, and Jeremy seems to get that, even when it means going against the short-term interests of the people who give you a paycheck.

It's "customer service", after all, not "company service".

+1

Well done Hogeye.

I always thought it was great to have Jeremy watching the forum and jumping in now and then to help out with info and/or problem solving. Thank you Jeremy. We will miss you.

Farewell Jeremy! Good luck and success in your future endeavors whatever they may be.

Jeremy has been a wealth of knowledge and support here on this forum and at Gibson Montana. My wife and I were lucky enough to have a personal tour of the Montana operation by Jeremy. Truly a gentleman and consummate professional.

You will be missed Sir!

Really sorry to hear that Jeremy is leaving. I just got through mentioning him and his great attention to doing the job "right" is a previous thread. Hell of a decent guy and just what Gibson should aim for in publicly representing themselves.

Live long and prosper, Jeremy. I hope life has many great adventures left for you. Kick-*** and take names, my friend.........and don't forget to drop-in here every once-in-a-while....You are always welcome in "our" home. God Bless!

I am sorry to hear that too!

Luckily, I have had no need for his help but often see him riding across the pages to help a bamboozled guitarist on distress. [tongue]

So do we know what his plans are?

That's a shame. Jeremy gave Gibson the human touch they're so often accused of lacking. My personal dealings with JM were first-class. He helped me find the Gibsons I was looking for.

Best of luck to you and I hope you'll pop up here to let us know where you land.

Maybe Guild needs such a man?

Jeremy personally assisted me on a couple of occasions over the past few years and was extremely helpful in each instance. He has represented Gibson well and I'm certain his professional and positive contributions will be very much missed.

Best of luck, Jeremy.

That's blue news - J. Morton was a person, who served the Board with discretion, elegance, detailed knowledge and general surplus* - like a classic butler serves his court.

And as I recall it a fine player too. .

May he travel safe

One of the good guys, to be sure. He'll be missed.

Indeed. Not only a customer service rep but also a player and participant. All the very best Jeremy.

It speaks volumes that for all the years Jeremy has been here, getting into the thickest of the thicket - always with the objective of helping, and not judging - walking the fine line of 'representing the company' while dealing with prima dosas like moi - he has Never had a negative comment or result. He will be missed, but we can be sure he is going on tho something bigger, better and happier for himself and his family !! G'Luck !!!!

Hello All,

I greatly appreciate the well wishes.

My time here at Gibson has been a very important part of who I have been for the last 5 years. It has been an honor to represent the Gibson brand and to serve the guitar community. I will be playing Gibson guitars for many years to come. I will continue to be part of the forum to say hi and also chime in where I may have helpful information for fellow Gibson lovers. So by no means is this farewell but just that I will be one of you! Which I have always been.

Jeremy
