JazzNote Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Hi, I just received a package containing a beautyful 2014 Lee Ritenour L5 with S/N 12544001 and i am amazed that the number is not printed on the back of the headstock. The S/N is just printed on the orange label inside the guitar. Is this common procedure now - or how come? Best regards, Jazznote

Don't know if it's standard on all CS guitars, but could be any reason behind it.
L5Larry Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 This is typical of some high-end hollow-body models, and meant to replicate the "golden years" when Gibson serial numbers were either hand written or stamped INSIDE the guitars.
cody78 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 My 2015 L5CES Custom Crimson and my 2010 ES-5 Switchmaster don't have serials stamped on the back of the headstock. Congrats on an incredible new guitar btw.
powerwagonjohn Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 My 2009 L-4CES does not have a number on the back of the headstock. As Larry said it is a historically accurate re-issue. Oh yea except for the carved hog back and sides, ebony fingerboard, inlayed bridge base, pearl inlays and L-5 tailpiece. So much for historic accuracy. Still a very nice guitar though. Thanks John
