Campbell
I’m interested in the latest Tony Iommi SG model, but I have one concern about the design; the strap button is on the “horn” of the guitar. I was curious as to the durability of this design element. I know it seems to be a welcomed design change to many, yet to me it seems like it may be a weak area to place a strap button. Has anyone with an SG modified theirs in this manner (or do you own the newest Tony Iommi)? And if so, how well has it held up? I appreciate any input. deeman
I have not tried it. I would imagine it is appropriately attached and would offer some relief to neck dive.
capmaster
No specific Tony Iommi SG experience here, but my fairly heavy Ibanez Artist guitar with the same kind of strap button placement on the upper horn of a mahogany back is fine. I don't think this design is more prone to failure than others.
Campbell
Thank you kindly for the feedback. On a side note; it seems some folks get their Tony Iommi's with the strap button on the horn, where others get it in the traditional position, at the base of the neck. Even various online retailers show it in one or the other positions.
Parabar
My Dillion DR-500's all have the strap button on the upper horn --- no problems with any of them.
