While I was noodling around with a LP Standard, noticed that When on pure bypass I was able to select two modes, the twin coil output and a single coil when split is this normal? as I haven't read that it's capable of this. thanks.

Yes, this is normal. When pulled, the output of the bridge PU volume push/pull switch will be directly connected to the output jack's hot leg. Since toggle switch and controls have to be bypassed, too, there's no option of also bypassing the coil split switch using a DPDT switch. This would take a 4PDT switch, not available in push/pull or push/push pots.

eh/ no, I said that when pure bypass was on, I was able to split the bridge pickup. I noticed a difference in tone.

Perhaps my post was unclear, I meant to say exactly that. The bypass switch cannot bypass the coil split switch. It would have to be a four-pole double throw switch.
