Raunchpr,

Your beautiful guitar is worth over $1,800 in it's admittedly mint condition.

A new or used J-185 or J-185 EC (if you wanted to stay with the acoustic-electric configuration) will cost you anywhere from $2,700 to $3,000 USD.

You won't know until you pick one up and play it in person, but my suspicion is that both your Blues King and the J-185 will sound amazingly alike.

They are both quality Gibsons, they both are super jumbos with similar shapes and features.

I cannot imagine that you will find a great tonal disparity between the two models.

Anyone ever have a guitar stolen at a gig ?

Ive never heard of anyone having anything like that happen. In fact people at gigs are usually extremely nice , often offering help rather than eying the gear up for mischief.

Be hard to steal a guitar from someone at a gig i would say.

Nice guitar that.

Not my cup of tea with its more modern design.

Id sell it :)

From 1971 to 2003, up and down the east coast and even in another country, I was from fairly active to very active considering I also had a full time career. Played all kindsa places in every kinda weather. Never once heard of or knew of first hand anyone having anything more than a lighter stolen from a gig.

On these here innernetz I've heard of it lots since Al Gore made this all possible. NetKooks I say.
