to each his own,

I heard this yesterday, or maybe the day before?

like it and will definitely be purchasing the new album.

If you like good upbeat blues with some edge, Different Shades of Blue (the last one he did before this new one) I like a lot.

He has quite a few, so it depends on what sort of stuff you're into. the earlier albums like You And Me, is quite different from the last two (Different Shades, and Driving Towards the Daylight).

if you like even more edge, try looking up Black Country Communion which was a band Joe had with Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonam and the keyboard player from Dream Theater

he did 3 albums from that project, the first and second are good, never really bonded with the third one (Afterglow)

I didnt know there were album trailers. This is the first one I've seen.

I dont feel encouraged to buy it.

What albums would you JB fans recommend?

Definitively (but it is only a personal opinion ;) ) the 'From Nowhere In Particular' live album

You have a lot different tastes of blues

I think it's the age old situation that all of us who cut our teeth in the blues deal with. If you take the blues and try to make it something more, is it something better? In some cases yes, in some not so much. I will reserve any criticism of the record till it comes out. [confused]

The tracks samples sound impressive from the 'trailer', so I'd be inclined to give this album a listen upon its' release. I've been a follower of JB for many years, and nothing has disappointed, in regards to albums, so far.

Different Shades of Blue was a great album, IMHO, and certainly up there as one of his best efforts.

I'm slightly put out by some of his choices recently though; he no longer plays with Carmine Jojas; the bassist that was with him for at least 7 years (?) and, to me, complimented him the best.

Also having no keys on this new album is a very different move; I always thought that they filled in the songs quite nicely, without being too obvious; again referencing Different Shades of Blue.

And also his recent move to only using Fender tweed amps; he said he's recreated his sounds without using Marshall amps, but to me the tones he got out of mixing Fender, Marshall, and other amps for his live and studio sound has not been replicated with this all-Fender line up; it doesn't have that "bombastic Zeppelin" sound they're after, IMHO.

All the same, will have a listen.

My introduction to Joe was the Live at Albert Hall DVD from 2009 which is frankly phenomenal. You'll get a good blend of blues and rock here and is also available on CD.

Pure Guitar porn. :)

yes, That was a great show. The one from Red Rocks is good too.

I saw him last year at the Wang Center in Boston. Joe and the band was spectacular.

Great venue too, not too big, not too small sounded just right...

Regarding his rigs, and his personnel, he seems to like to churn things over every few albums or so, then eventually he revisits the pervious cast of characters and the rig line up.

At the moment, he says he's in the middle of such a transition now, and trying to do more with less. it's how he feels he needs to stay on top of his game I suppose.

What ever works Joe,, just don't start going hip-ho or commercial on us.. [thumbup] .

Ok I'm listening to Different Shades of Blues right now.

Very nice indeed. Thanks to all.

I think it's one of his best efforts.

I listened to it again this morning on my run,... great stuff.. a good way to make 24 degrees F a little more tolerable..

I love the one with Beth Hart! [thumbup]

Currently I find myself BOB (Burnt Out on Bonamassa) Too much exposure has ruined me for the time being. [unsure]

That's how I feel too but I didn't know it was a word for that :)

So I am BOB too ;)

I love Joe's guitar playing and he's a great song writer… Love his sound too. I think he is a bit full of himself but that's to be expected I guess. I would buy the New LP. I bought the Ballod of John Henry CD when he was here in Valencia when that CD just came out. He was selling them in the lobby of the venue which was a very small club, about 200 people only. I suggest it to anyone for a good taste of what he does…

John Henry is another good CD.

Dust Bowl is good too.

In fact, IMHO, there is something tasty on every Album he releases.

I've not been BOB'd yet. we do quite a number of his tunes, and they go over pretty good, most don't even know who's songs they are, and we don't bother saying so unless asked.

I liked what I heard. I'm not a huge fan of his. I know the dude can play, i just never really listened to his stuff i guess. I will have have to start checking him out more. On a side note, I played one of his signature epiphone Les Paul's at the store the other day, and was impressed. Great feel to the guitar. I am on a mission to find a deal on one of those!

Sounds pretty good to me, but what I find fantastically amazing is that blonde ES-5 he is holding in the interview. Oddly, I may be one of the few people on the forum who hasn't listened to much Bonamassa, but I do like what I've heard and is guitar collection is not too bad either.

I'd highly recommend his live performance atRoyal Albert Hall

+1 on the "Royal Albert Hall" but then my favorite from JB is "Happier Times".

But back to the trailer, what was interesting to me is JB's comment at the very beginning that for the first time ever he didn't use Marshall amps. He used Fender amps and "plugged directly into them".

This whole thread is depressing though. He is going to be here in May and I didn't know the tickets went on sale. The only seats left are crappy ones but they are still $100 each. I don't know if I want to spend that much for "nose bleed" seat. And the worst part is I now must somehow muster the nerve to tell my wife that I missed getting good seats.

I think that's kind of the thing that all of us on the forum who are willing to get up and perform original songs in front of strangers and bare our souls through our expression need to have a thick skin and a bit cock-sure of ourselves. It can bother people, and you just can't give a damn.

I'm excited for his new album. Think it's really cool that two drummers are going to be on it. That's going to be interesting to hear. I seen that trailer about a week or so ago. I've seen him live twice and he was phenomenal live. His last album, Different Shades Of Blue is amazing. Also, check out the band he was in back in the '90's called Bloodline.

oh I don't know about that, he actually seems to be a pretty humble guy. He has been writing articles for Guitar player, since he travels a lot, he goes on these "Safari's" where he shops out vintage gear (now that he is in the $place$ where he can afford it) so he tends to write about these adventures he goes on with his guitar tech while on the road.

he found a late 60s white strat that he was interested in checking out (I think that is the one that he was touring the Different Shades Album on, and used for a lot of the tracks). He eventually went to the guys house, who had no clue who was about to show up at his door step looking to buy his Vintage Fender.

Turns out, the guitar was worth much more than he was asking (he was selling it to help send his boy to college and time was getting short to get the money together.)

Joe agreed to buy the guitar, but wrote the guy a check for the full value of the guitar, which was in fact thousands more than he was asking. That's a pretty righteous thing to do if you ask me. I wonder how many people wouldn't have taken advantage of the situation.
