flatbaroque Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 There was a discussion on songwriting on the AGF and someone linked to this guy-Zane Williams.A really impressive song he composed incorporating 10 random words send by his fans. I remember Bowie saying once he used a similar random words on cards method to combat lyrical writers block sometimes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTDtBSv4If4&app=desktop
flatbaroque Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 Antidisestablishmentarianism. haha...that's a bit mean. Well the title would have to be "Antidisestablishmentarianism Blues"...obviously
jdgm Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 haha...that's a bit mean. Well the title would have to be "Antidisestablishmentarianism Blues"...obviously Sorry...couldn't resist it. One of the most vexing songwriting words is generally reckoned to be 'orange' I think, as nothing much rhymes with it. I threw you an orange You were out of range I felt really strange.... Naah.... In a letter to the Times newspaper a few years ago, some smartarse pointed out there is a store in London called Gorringes (which is a school outfitters).....so he thought you could rhyme orange(s) with that; "We ate some oranges then shopped at Gorringes" Naahhhh!!!

Ha!...A strange coincidence but only tonight I was learning a song by Guy Clark called Cold Dog Soup that has a verse "Ginsberg and Kearourac Shootin' dice playin' Ramblin Jack's guitar with the cowboy painti' pickguard on it and they sat in the back and they drank for free and rhymed orange with Rosalie Now there's a pride of lions to draw to"
blindboygrunt Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 One of the best lyricsts ever guy clark. Shouldve been bigger than he is.
EuroAussie Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 As i analyse Radioheads music more i notice the lyrics almost never rhyme. Thom just sings a melody and stretches out the words ss required to fit the melody.
Mickthemiller Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 The Fab Four made do for ages with the ten words - love, me, you, I, girl, her, he, please, and and do. I always wanted to write a sentence with and and in it and I've done it.
