saturn Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I made an account on Photobucket years ago after members here advised it is a good way to put pictures into your posts. That's what I use it for 90% of the time. But I also put some other personal photos and video there for sharing, and have even purchased some merchandise off their site. I've always found it slow and that it takes a long time to load pages and upload photos. But lately it's been unbearable. Pages take several minutes to load and when trying to upload a photo it just hangs forever. I usually like to resize my photos so they don't fill an entire screen when I post them here, and that's at least a 5 minute endeavor for every photo I edit. Is it just me?
btoth76 Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hello. Yes, but it has been always slow. Bence.
saturn Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 Hello. Yes, but it has been always slow. Bence. Yes it always has been. But for me, it's now at a new level of SLOW!
Rabs Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Nope, not just you... IT IS very slow and over the last 6 months or so has been even worse.. Sometimes when I upload it gets stuck at 90%.. really annoying.. I usually find you move page after like a minute or so it has actually uploaded even if it got stuck. But hey its free. What can you do? The worst thing is the stupid pop ups on the site.. They are well annoying... but that's mainly how they pay for it I guess...
capmaster Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Well, it takes some time, but I don't care. I'm usually in no hurry when uploading pics. They do resize pics automatically, and I don't resize them again since I think if one might want to take a close look, the bigger, the better. I prefer full-screen pics to evaluate the item or detail shown. but this is just me. :) What annoys me sometimes is unasked rotation. Additionally, rerotating pics may lead to impredictable results. I switched to deleting the respective upload and trying it again. Occasionally some areas do appear saying a picture had been deleted instead of showing one. Don't know where that comes from.
Digger Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I've had an account there for years and haven't noticed any appreciable difference.
darling67 Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 No, it's not just you... I've noticed recently, while trying to upload some guitar images, that the upload process takes an inordinate length of time. I'll be forced to cancel the upload several times before a successful upload.... only to find a half dozen uploads of the same image!
Tman Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I think it is a lot slower than it used to be. I think it is because if you are there for free, they have to take time to load the unwanted video that plays while you try to up load your photo. My theory.
surfpup Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Yeeeesssss... I finnnnddddd it slooooooweeerrr... lateeeeellyyyyyy alllllsssooooooo....
ksdaddy Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 When I first started using ebay, ebay did NOT host photos. I used a company called honesty.com, who charged me 35 cents per photo for a lousy 8 days. I learned to be efficient with photos. Then I found photobucket, which was free. I used it from 2000 to about 2007 or so. I switched to tinypic, which I think is tied in with photobucket somehow. It's a horrible site but it's free and hasn't crashed too often. I stil have a photobucket account and on occasion I would go to it, maybe upload a pic or two. I hated it. They had made some changes, can't recall what, but it slowed down to a snail's pace. Not sure if I have anything on there now or if I could even get in.
Dennis G Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I've had an account there for years and haven't noticed any appreciable difference. +1 here. Check to make sure there's not an "add on" trying to install...
saturn Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 +1 here. Check to make sure there's not an "add on" trying to install... Well. Many times there is a shaky little window in the lower left corner telling me I should install some Update. But I always assume it's some kind of malware ignore it.
btoth76 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Hello! Did You notice how fast it is today? :D Cheers... Bence
jdgm Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 No, it's not just you... I've noticed recently, while trying to upload some guitar images, that the upload process takes an inordinate length of time. I'll be forced to cancel the upload several times before a successful upload.... only to find a half dozen uploads of the same image! Had exactly this today uploading images. But as has been said, it's free - they'll fix it or lose users, sooner or later.
LarryUK Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I've tried it last night and this morning. Yes, it's unbelievably slow. Is there another site to use as I only really use it to post photos on here. Is there a way to post directly onto here?
capmaster Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 ... Is there a way to post directly onto here? As you may already know, there's 500 kB memory space per account, not sufficient for a single hi-res photo.
jdgm Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Trying to log into Photobucket now...something is definitely wrong with it!
Retired Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 You know how happy you guys make me feel? I am so glad it's not just me. I've been trying to use it for a long time now and have stuff stored there but can never get it to work for me. Now it won't even let me do anything on it. That's why I've never posted photos.
dbrian66 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I have always thought the site was slow. Funny thing is, the Photobucket app for my iPhone is way faster. Thats my camera anyways, so I just upload from there.
