Playing in strange places

So far, the strangest place has been in the stables at The Kansas City Zoo. Also, played about 5 ft. from the bathroom door at a couple bars. Probably an indication of what they thought of my music.

I entertained in the elevator of a big warehouse in the middle of town back in the early wild days.

Me and a buddy drove up and down and asked people to request tunes when they got aboard - no, we weren't hired.

That's the strangest place I've played.

Or at least I thought so.

Turns out I made a performance inside a closet during a vibrating Easter-lunch-party approx. 10 years ago. A friend told me so recently, , , and brought the evidence forward.

He's a pro sound engineer and had recorded the whole song on his new technical device.

What !?, , , must have been a fairly big closet. It was - still I could barely stand up with a guitar in there.

Good god.

Every man alive has a photo of themselves sitting on a toilet dont they

I missed out on that up to now and don't feel the need to catch up on it. :)

I would say the operation was a success! Considering before the procedure this guy couldn't play a radio, now he's a classical guitarist [tongue]

Not a complete success. The guy is playing a classical guitar, but he's flat-picking bluegrass on it.

Oh well, back to the drawing board......

I remember at one point reading this article some time ago. they wanted him to stay alert and keep his brain working during the surgery.. so he figured may as well play guitar if I can sleep. I like his the way he thinks!

not sure if this is a "Strange place" to play,

but we did a gig set up on a flatbed on the first base line of a baseball field one very sunny hot and humid summer day, which you might think would be ok..

not! it was like playing the surface of mercury

The sun, from which there was no escape... was brutal.

The brain while playing the guitars gives the surgeon a clue that he hasn't made a boob.

I think the first time i seen this technique was with a banjo.

Which doesn't make any sense , but there ya go

...

That may have been a clue that the surgery was needed.

They project his thoughts on to a big screen tv - confused mix of Hummingbird, new or vintage or true vintage or was that a torrefied top or not? Or the J45, oh oh, old or new, standard, torrefied or true vintage or..? Ooooh, the babe with the nice hair likes that Bird! Maybe get the J45 later...etc.

It certainly does look bloody strange.

I've been told it is done while the patient, who all the while remains conscious, is undergoing brain surgery. It apparently allows doctors to avoid injury to the brain.

Heavy stuff but you do hope they are not playing Stairway to Heaven.
