slplankspanker Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I have a new 2016 Songwriter studio deluxe EC. It sounds absolutely awesome, acoustically. I seem to have an issue when plugged in. The B string, and strings closest to it are very loud, present and bright. The D and A are very dull, less loud and not so clear. The result is a guitar is missing the true tone and body when plugged in. The fishman's filtering and EQ cannot make up for the difficiencies. I love this guitar and I need it to perform well in a live situation as I am a professional musician. I can't handle our singer telling me his Breedlove sounds better. I need help.
EuroAussie Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Sounds like the UST pickup is not seating cleanly or is uneven in some way. Id take it to a tech who specialises in pickup installation, or see if there is any reason why the UST strip may not be sitting evenly, dirt ? It may well be an uneven saddle as the problem.
capmaster Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 ... It may well be an uneven saddle as the problem. This is where I would look first. It could be the bottom of the saddle as well as the surface of the bridge slot bearing pickup and saddle. Tiny unevenness may cause huge level differences and also distortion.
slplankspanker Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 Thanks guys. My initial suspicion was the bridge and saddle pickup contact.
