Was playing a few days ago Rocksmith, and discovered a band I didn't knew.

Wanted to check out more of their stuff on the tube and found this:

And her little sister goes totaly wild, funny!

What I want to know is did she learn how to play solely down to the game?

If the game can teach a kid or anyone to play like that im all for it. Quite impressive for someone so young.

Ive been trying to get my nieces and nephew interested in guitars :) They like making random noise on them which is about as far as ive got... One is 5 and one is 6...

Hey, some people have made a career out of random noise. Encourage that! [biggrin]

This is what my son usually does... and I applaud every time. Wish I had a guitar in my hands at that age!

What did she do to the guitar pictured in the background? [scared]

[tongue] Just kidding! [biggrin] But picking classical guitar with a flatpick is an interesting approach. I did that, too, on my sister's guitar during my late teens... [rolleyes]

i watched a few of her videos after seeing the one above. the lil sis is awesome.

you guys are you closely watching/listening? she's not playing music. she's playing a video game. there is a difference. kawaii and all, but she doesn't play guitar in any of the videos i saw. she uses a guitar to play rocksmith. it's not the same thing at all.

I'm hoping to get our grandson involved in guitar when he's old enough. He's just learned he can balance himself and walk. Still too young but he loves music and really boogies to it. He's done that for awhile. I got him a baby guitar, trying to teach him how to hold it. He pushes different buttons and it plays nursery rhymes.

Not sure what you mean when you say she is not playing music. She is playing the guitar. Rocksmith gives her a backing track and tells her what notes or chords to play. but she is playing the guitar. I am a huge video game fan and play guitar so of course I have this game and its a lot of fun. BUt if you cant play the guitar, it doesnt sound good.

Yup, I wondered myself when I saw it.

But from my own experience, as a guy that couldn't play not even a single chord only 3 years ago, yeah it's quite posible that she learned playing. Maybe not everything, she may have watched some instructional videos or had some classes. I started with a Book with DVD called Guitar for Dummies (yeah, L yer AO!). It was cool but slow and sometimes frustrating.

Everything changed with Rocksmith, you learn really quick to feel home on the entire fretboard, and since you have to look at the screen you learn quickly how to play without staring all the time at your left hand.

It is also really helpful to teach you how to keep the pace, for obvious reasons.

And playing songs is only the funny part of this "game" (I personally prefere instructional software).

There are lessons for chords, bending, palm muting, string changing, a bit of everything.

Cute, and most important they have a great time noodling.

I think that is the most important thing many kids are forced to learn to play an instrument. Thats frustrating and traumatizing, most of them stop playing when they are old enough to decide for them selfs.

Real strings, real notes and real chords! Not a guitar-shaped game controller like the ones used for Guitar Hero.

After learning a song with Rocksmith, I am able to play it trough an amp, even without backing track. I only have to add some feeling and my personal touch, because this is what Rocksmith doesn't teach you.

Yeah this is what I thought.. While I understand that the game is monitoring whats being played for note and timing accuracy.. As far as I could tell from that first vid, shes playing.. I can see her hands make the correct movements for the sound that's coming out...

Its if all she knows is how to play whats on the screen, or if she could play before the game that I was wondering..

Cos as I said, if she learned that from just playing the game, that's pretty cool. So maybe she doesn't actually know scales or what anything is called.. But then neither do I most the time :)

Looks to me quite like what I do when I'm practicing music reading. Have to look at the page not the guitar.

I think she is playing guitar, good luck to her - her kid sister is a scream!

And the screen scrolls like 'Guitar Hero' doesn't it?

It is really the same thing as guitar hero except you have to use a real guitar and play real notes. Even stuff like the bends, if it calls for a half step and you go full, it won't give you credit for that note. A lot of fun.

Can't find the damn thing locally at all.

So I had to order it off amazon US.

Canadian site had it but at a bloated price.

With the dollar the way it is I may end up taking it up the hoop anyway. But am looking forward to playing

around with it.

I really liked the guitar hero concept but hated that it was just a game controller shaped like a guitar.

That didn't stop me from wasting hours playing it though.

At least this I can plug my own guitar in and have a go.

I think it will be a blast.
