"I'm here to tell ya'll bout Tires! They don't look good and they smell bad, but you gotta have em"...
jdgm Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Many many years ago the head cop in Great Britain was a man called Sir Robert Mark. He retired and made a TV ad (for which he got a lot of flak - it was the 70s) about Goodyear tyres. The punchline was "I'm convinced they are a major contribution to road safety"....
Dennis G Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Keys, keys, keys, keys on Van Nuys Yeah, that one LOL. And then there's "You won't get a lemon from Toyota of Orange".
Dub-T-123 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Yeah, that one LOL. And then there's "You won't get a lemon from Toyota of Orange". You live in HB?
glp2012 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 If you're looking' for a better set of wheels I'll stand upon my head to beat all deals, I'll stand upon my head, 'till my ears are turnin' red Go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal... That would be Cal Worthington and his dog, Spot.
saturn Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 We have some bad ones too. "Jack says YES!" The guy Jack Antwerpen is a real D'bag. "Are you Boyle loyal?" "We're gonna wow ya!" But hey, they must work if I can recite them off the top of my head.
Dennis G Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 You live in HB? Lived there for years, but recently moved to Irvine
Dennis G Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 That would be Cal Worthington and his dog, Spot. You could not live in SoCal and avoid a Cal Worthington commercial. They're classic!
surfpup Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I got bad memories of the year I spent trying to sell cars... that's what I got. 'Twas not for me.
saturn Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBs455jwb8w I know this was a spoof. But here's an actual real ad from a Baltimore lawyer. Baltimore (along with Philly) has the absolute worst speaking accent in the entire world.

saturn Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 LOL,,makes me think of that movie w/Kurt Russel where hes a used car salesman,,cant remember the title, funny movie though. I think it was called "Used Cars"
darling67 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I'm not sure if it's "dopey".... but it's a sort of well-known, if not silly, and oft-repeated slogan in Los Angeles county.... There's a dealership out here called the, "Cerritos Auto Square", and their catch phrase is, "... you'll be saying, 'Yes-cerritos!' "
darling67 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Yeah, that one LOL. And then there's "You won't get a lemon from Toyota of Orange". Yeah, there's no shortage of stupid car dealer slogans in So Cal!
