I thank the group for always showing support. Not the top of the line, but I like the understated appearance, the raw and woody tone, and the great fit and finish of another Gibson guitar. My J-35 below:

Sounds like a good fit, you and the '35.

Happy NewGuitarSaturdayNight.

Clean rectangle bridge... and nice pattern to that Firestripe (lower left).

Excellent choice. Lots of good vibes and comments on this model. You've got a great instrument and you'll enjoy it for years. I totally agree on the understated appearance. I like the adornment on many Gibson models, but there's a simple and natural beauty to the J35 J29, and J15 models. And don't let anyone get you caught-up in the "top of the line" bull. A great guitar is a great guitar.

Congratulations on the beautiful J-35. They are light as a feather and have that dry, whispery, woody sound that is so cool. I love the neck profile too. I wouldn't give a second thought about how much it cost. The fact that it speaks to you in sound and feel is what's important. I find myself playing mine more than some of my other guitars that cost a whole lot more. Great choice. Enjoy!

Great looking guitar , love the understated look and that pickguard and headstock , way cool . In my eyes nothing's worse than turning up with a flash really expensive guitar , I feel you have something to prove ( and worry about ) even before you start playing . I have played one of these and the J15 , I had to spend a great deal of time stopping myself from adding another one to the stable . Just wonderful enjoy the ride .

Congrats!! The slightly different version of the J45. A true 'workhorse', but a fine instrument. You AND your guitar are 'top of the line'.

As Mick said, there's no feeling like waking up 'the morning after' and knowing you have a brand, spanking new guitar sitting in it's case waiting for you.

And as the days become weeks - you'll be finding new ways to make time for you to steal time from other things and cozy up to your J35.

... buying a dishwasher, firing a maid... getting a girlfriend ... buying jewelry for your wife. (hopefully not all will apply at the same time!) Congrats!!

Answer 2:

Well, it'll fall apart faster than a J-45 but slower than a J-15.

I would like to thank all of you who replied. It was rewarding to have friends share in the joy of my new instrument. I noticed a lot of experience among you with your many beautiful instruments listed. It was interesting and entertaining to read your supportive, and at times, humorous comments! My compliments to all of you. We're having fun in this forum, from what I can derive!

Bassetman and Doug the Old Geezer, Thanks for the props and encouraging words. I am glad to hear that they continue to improve, as much as I love this one. I have to work out the mix in the amplifier for church. It was a bit too bright. I guess I need to trim/add more bass or trim the treble? The unplugged sound is divine, so I know I can get a better mix if I work at it. Love this ax! Dan
