EVOL! Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I am looking for some recommendations on models of multi-guitar guitar stands to check out. I am reconfiguring my basement and this includes the music room. What I'd like to do is have all five of my electrics out so I can store the cases out of way. What I am looking for is more of a guitar rack like this http://www.fender.com/accessories/stands/fender-guitar-case-stands-7-guitar/product-0991007.html . This Fender model is plush so I wouldn't be nervous about melting the finish of my nitrocellulose guitars.
Dennis G Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I've had a couple of these for a few years now: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/proline-plms7-7-guitar-folding-stand I've covered all the foam parts with 2" cotton gauze. Not pretty, but it works. I've had no problems even with my nitro finish guitars. I have all electrics in one, and my acoustics in the other. Note: you will NOT fit 7 acoustics in one of these. Not endorsing MF, just using their info.
rct Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I use two of these 7 - 9 racks. Keeps them out, but in cases. Best thing I ever did for my music room. My link rct

surfpup Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I had the Road Runner Flight Case one. It was alright, but I do not gig. I have that one and use it sometimes at gigs (bigger stages). I think EVOL is looking for something a bit more permanent and sturdy. In which case I'd consider building one to suit size needs.
sparquelito Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I use a 7-instrument guitar rack on stage, but in my music room, all the guitars are hung on the wall (to open up the floor space). I HIGHLY recommend this course of action to everyone who is space-challenged. :)
StRanger7032 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I have one of these. Its was relatively cheap and I can personally vouch for it being nitrocellulose safe. You can squeeze 7 electrics on it or maybe 3-4 acoustics. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051WAJ5S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01

capmaster Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 These are what I use, each two of either, nitro-safe due to their translucent support elements: http://produkte.k-m.de/en/Stands-and-accessories-for-instruments/Fretted-instruments/17515-Five-guitar-stand-Guardian-5-black-with-translucent-support-elements http://produkte.k-m.de/en/Stands-and-accessories-for-instruments/Fretted-instruments/17513-Three-guitar-stand-Guardian-3-black-with-translucent-support-elements They also make this smaller five e-guitar stand but there's too little space for guitars with vibrato arms mounted: http://produkte.k-m.de/en/Stands-and-accessories-for-instruments/Fretted-instruments/17525-Five-e-guitar-stand-Guardian-5-black-with-translucent-support-elements
NHTom Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I like RCT's method. I like to keep mine in cases as I feel they are safest there. His method that works like a book shelf is perfect to me. I didn't have the floor space to do that, so I stole an idea from someone else on the forum and went vertical with mine. Still easy to slide them out as needed. Makes me play a lot more of mine now because they are easy to get at. When they were all in the closet, I'd only keep a couple out at a time, so many went too long without use. NHTom
JayinLA Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 This is a cool thread man. It's also humbling for me. I have never had to transport that many guitars unless I was moving. I keep my 3 main git-fiddles on a stand in my "studio", a 2008 LP Standard, a 1999 LP Studio and a Yamaha 14 series acoustic. Everything else is in cases in the closet. I only play local gigs and I only bring the 2 gibby's and just load em in the van. Shows my rookiesm in terms of guitar addiction. ;)
capmaster Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 ... I like to keep mine in cases as I feel they are safest there. ... NHTom Except for being put into stands prepared for getting played with my bands, all of my guitars and basses are in their cases, too, and also for safety reasons.
rct Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I got two of the 7 - 9 case stands for Christmas, just plain ones not all fancy. Got a coupon from them at a local guitar show so she got like 20% off two. I took a piece of MDF that we had once used as part of a headboard and cut it down to two pieces, each somewhat bigger than the bottom of the guitar case stands. I took two sets of casters we've had around for probably decades and put them on the bottoms of the two pieces of MDF that we had once used as part of a headboard. I put the stands each on one of the platforms I built and BAM Mrs can roll them around if she needs to move them. Awesome. rct

sparquelito Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I'm more space challenged than you realise. There is not enough wall in my studio to hang the guitars. Oh man, I understand. I have had to get quite creative in order to hang the ones I do have hanging up. Like many of the other posters, I also keep a few of them in cases, in the closet. But, cad that I am, I also have 4 guitars hanging on the walls IN the closet!
sparquelito Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 This is how crowded it gets during band practice!!
