capmaster Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 With the end of 2016 Status Quo plans to give up playing an electric set on stage: http://www.statusquo.co.uk/lastnight.html#.VrDqhLLhC70
Riffster Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 If they ever come to Nashville I'd check them out
jdgm Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Certainly in the UK they seem to have overdone it - many, many gigs/tours in recent years, the audiences are falling away as tickets cost more and they have seen the show enough times, and their bigger concerts no longer sell out. They have become an institution like many other old rock bands; don't sell big amounts of records anymore, their audience is getting smaller as they do not attract new followers and the creative fire of youth quietly went out some years ago. A quandary for many ageing rock groups who did well in the past but whose reputation is not 'legendary' enough (or sales high enough) to keep the money coming in. [EDIT] I concede these remarks may not be relevant in this particular case; both the principals have health issues, Parfitt's are serious. Also - Status Quo have done a HUGE amount of charity work, far more than many 'bigger' bands.....
'Scales Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 perhaps...but they have been appearing in TV ads for a major (probably size equivalent of Sainsburys) supermarket chain in Australia for quite a few years, for which they will have been paid mega bucks (seriously!!) see video below (if you can stomach it...)
capmaster Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Those big hand guitars look nicely balanced, but I would want a cutaway. :)
IanHenry Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Those big hand guitars look nicely balanced, but I would want a cutaway. :) Yes, but they could come in handy...........................sorry I couldn't resist doing that! Ian
