buliwyf Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Maybe i got lucky and my main guitar cords, my 30 ft and 20 ft that also are my last two cords lasted around 30 odd years. When i bought these they were good expensive cords and now both died within 2 days of each other a few days ago. Originaly they were around 20 bucks a cord and i thought that was expensive back then but i always bought the best for playing out back then was my job.Now i need new cables and after checking the usual on line stores MF, american Music,Sweetwater when did cords get so expensive especially the quality ones? BTW all I have left is a short 3 footer and it seems to make my axe sound like crap, could it be an amp cable or does a short cable not sound as good or could that little cord also be shot. Who has decent semi inexpensive cord that costs less than my car?
kidblast Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Check out the Fender Performance Series. They are great cables. I have a few of them. Lifetime Warranty too Honestly, they are probably "better" cables out there, but for 5x the price here's a good deal on them at MF http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/fender-performance-series-instrument-cable
zigzag Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I've never done a side-by-side comparison, but I doubt I could actually hear much difference. Influenced by a recent thread, I googled some instrument cable ratings and came across this, for what it is worth. I recently bought a Live Wire Elite L-plug cable, and it is lifetime guaranteed. The Dimarzio cable is rated highly and very reasonably priced. Instrument Cable Ratings Notice, much of this study is "subjective."

They're good cables. Durable too.

Honestly bro, and no offense intended, but if I invested 40 bux thirty years ago and they just crapped out now, I'd run out to the store and replace them without a thought. Things cost more now, that's how it is, but you still have the same ability to avoid snakebite venom. Just be reasonable about it and buy some cables. rct
buliwyf Posted February 4, 2016 Author Posted February 4, 2016 Didnt mean it to sound like a complaint but i have had 15 plus cables over the years and it seems like all of a sudden I never noticed I was down to two and they both die within 2 days. They were the same manuf also and both sealed on the ends.I'll take a look at the fender pro series thanks all, once again this place comes through with help.
