jaxson50 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Another great musician has left this rock, Maurice White, founder of Earth Wind & Fire has gone on to the big stage.http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/earth-wind-fires-maurice-white-dead-74/story?id=36723376
LarryUK Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Although I was a rock fan. The album 'I Am' was a brilliant album and I think is still one of the best produced products out there. So many hits. I grew up with this and still love every song on the album. R.I.P Reece.
Rosemarie Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Loved listening to EW&F and Tower of Power every Wednesday when I worked at the Music Store. In honor of a "Shining Star"...
saturn Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Yeah. I know Disco is kinda a dirty word, but he was a great artist who wrote and performed some really good songs. RIP
Searcy Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Truly one of the great. Any fan of the funk has had a heavy loss.
buliwyf Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I saw Earth Wind and Fire in concert in the late 70's it was one of the best concerts i have ever seen.I'm a big Ozzy, queensrique fan so to say that it has to be true. The concert was part killer music with great musicians (great horn line) and part magic show great set and they did magic during and between songs. His voice was amazing hard to have the band without his voice. rest in peace sir!
JayinLA Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 In 2006 I saw Earth, Wind and Fire play with Chicago and it was incredible. E,W&F played first, then Chicago, then all on the stage together for another set. We got our money's worth that night. E,W&F was a deep band. They always kept a pop sound, and dealt with some heavy subjects, but I love the early, funky stuff. Maurice, Thanks for your contribution. You will be missed.

Yes. I saw them for that tour. Doug Henning choreographed the magic. At one point, Maurice was levitated over the crowd about 20 rows out, then disappeared and immediately reappeared on the pyramid on stage. Great showmen and musicians.
buliwyf Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 With Doug Henning doing the choreography it explains the show.I remember the 3 lead singers sitting in chairs in front of the stage and having sheets put over them then the sheets were pulled off and they were all gone.Great show between the magic and the whole show was amazing.Zigzag Do you remember who if anybody opened up for them,I saw them in the long gone Springfield civic center in Mass.My girlfriend at that time had tickets and wanted to go,I'm glad I did.

I'm thinking the show was around '78. I saw them in Charlotte, and I don't remember anyone opening for them. BTW... Go Panthers!
