Avery Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Hey Luke, There was a discussion about this here a little while ago: http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/126284-doves-in-flight-mystic/
Lukec88 Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 Hey Luke, There was a discussion about this here a little while ago: http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/126284-doves-in-flight-mystic/ Oh I see. Sorry for that. 😊
Murph Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Never say you're sorry around here. They'll eat you up.......
Avery Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Luke, I saw that video too. Gorgeous looking and sounding guitar. Please don't apologize. I just linked that thread just to give you some info, and I know nothing about mystic rosewood myself. It's fun to revisit old topics.
Hogeye Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Hi Luke and welcome to the forum. The "Mystic" Rosewood is just a flat sawn Indian rosewood. Nothing new here. If you look at the ribs of the guitar you will see the quarter sawn wood. No one would ever dream of flat sawing rosewood. Well....No one but Gibson. Many here will disagree with this but they are the ones that have bought into the flat sawn hype. Any luthier will tell you that flat sawing is just a way to get use out of wood to dimensionally small to do a good quarter sawn cut. The wood is not as stable as if it were quarter sawn. The guitar also has a flubber pickguard. To bad, as it has all the possibilities of being a nice instrument.
Lukec88 Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 Thanks for detailed info! You guys are really nice! :)
