Drueke Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Hello all, Rachel here, I just picked up a 2014 SG standard from my local GC. I thought it was a good deal so I bought it. When I got home I started doing some research and noticed that 2014 SG standard came with a gibson 120th anniversary inlay. This particular guitar doesn't have it. I also saw on Gibson's site that the Min-Etune was on some models. I am wondering if my guitar is not a genuine Gibson. The guitar came with the case and factory paper work. Here are some pictures: Please let me know if you guys would like any more information? and sorry if this is a really noobish question, I kind of new to Gibson guitars. Rachel,
capmaster Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Hello Rachel, and welcome to this nice place in the web. Congrats on your beautiful new SG. She looks extraordinarily pretty and is doubtlessly legit. Enjoy your nice buy, Rachel!
charlie brown Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Looks quite legit, to me. I could be an early version (made in late 2013, even though designated 2014), prior to the Anniversary inlay. Gibson CS may be able to tell you more??? But, I wouldn't worry, I'm confident you have the "Real Deal," there! I think the Robo tuners were an "option" back then, as well, so one could order it, with or without. Congratulations!! CB

I think it's a GC exclusive made and stamped to the 2013 specs. These predated the coil splits of the common SG Standards.

capmaster Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 By research I found out that GC exclusive SGs came with coil split at least since of 2009. When about Gibson exclusive and limited guiars, GC seems to be a good address. Sadly we get some of these fine guitars like for instance the 2011 Les Paul Quilt K of mine extremely seldom here. :(

Seems to be difficult to get the current Epiphone Riviera, and '65 Casino (Kit) here...the one's with the Kalamazoo spec's, that is (Nitro finish, 2-hole TRC, Mini-humbuckers, on the Riviera, etc.) Whenever I look up dealers, for those, my dealer is on the list, but every time I've mentioned it, to them, they call their Gibson/Epiphone rep (once, while I was standing there), and are told that those models are only available in Japan! @#$%^&*)***@*!!!! So, WHY advertise them, here in the States?! Plus, they're priced at Gibson prices! So... CB

kidblast Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 it was 2015 when the robo tuners were jammed down everyone's throats..
