es 335 vs es 339

I had 2 of the 339's from the original run and loved them. I had one of each neck profile. I like the larger profile and ended up custom ordering a 339 with the bigger neck profile and then sold the other 2 339s. The 339 just seems to fit me better than a 335.

I recently demo'd a 339 and was floored! I always loved 335's, but they never felt right in my hands. Whoever came up with the 339 should be our next president.

+ 1

I had a 335 dot and could not bond with it, Found a used blonde 333 and just love it, don't

if it is the mojo or the 498s. Then I demoed a 339 and had to have it!

After getting a John Lennon Casino I realized that I am developing a love for

hollow and semi-hollow guitars.Where is this gonna lead to?

Have a Gretsch 6120 already. What could be next?

GAS is scary!

I always loved guitars, but started playing late (mid thirties) - I never played on-stage or anything (except one time, on a dare in New Orleans, but that's a different story), but I do have 2 weekly combos, with a bunch of geezers like me - one is a jazz combo and the other rock. Jazz was really hard for me - and when I decided to dive into it, I promised myself if I stick with it for a year, I'll reward myself with a nice custom-shop guitar.

Money was not a problem (you see, not going the path of a musician at an early age, I have nice paying job in the tech industry. :) ) - and when the time came, I just went to a Guitar-Centre and asked for a 335. The kid at the shop and i started talking, I told him my story and he suggested I tried a few other semi-hollows before making a purchase.

When I tried the 339 - I fell in love, it was just like meeting a girl who loves the same books, bands and tv shows I do. I looked over at the 335 and said: "You should've told me that you had a younger sister"

I'm with the 339 for 2 years, just had her set-up again and replaced tuners to Grover.

And yeah, like a few peeps already stated - several guitarists and sound techies confused it with a 335. I love it.

It just plays more easily for me...

[wub] I just ordered a '63 50'th anni 335TDC and should be at the dealer in approx. two weeks. I'm counting the days, hours, minutes and seconds. Build me a good one Memphis! I demo'd a 339 and loved the tone and wanted to try something different so ordered a 390 which for me was a disaster. Got my refund and sold a few guitars, so pulling the trigger on this ES-335. I like 335 tones and like that scale, but like I said the 339 is a solid guitar too. Confused? So am I. I went with what I know sounds and plays great to me. I've sold or am selling all my other guitars except my 360-12 RIC and my Deluxe Strat. The ES-135 will go this week. I don't need two semi-hollows do I?

Well, also I been looking into a es-339. I know what a es-335 sounds like (because for years someone had one and always played it, and that was the common guitar then). I had a sunburst es-345, and someone thought it had black knobs on it in another thread, but it had gold knobs, gold plated, and the varitone but with f-holes instead of the newer Lucille type 345-355 guitar from the King of Blues, BB King. However, there is now the solid Les Paul with also the 57 Classic Humbuckers (no weight relief) but to me the es-339 is a guitar like the other semi-hollows that exudes tones. Oh, the drama of it all, beteween single coil switches (knobs) and also humbuckers and just plain ol' normal to me 57 humbuckers.

But still I am wondering if a es-339 could handle what I think a es-335 bigger model could handle. Same about but not the same, but still the es-339 calls (although I am not sure I can find a good looking one right now because what I have seen is the 50's neck and cherry antique guitar that really does not look in 2013 like the earlier models.

Hard decision, and single coil sounds although nice I probably would not use that much (leave it to the amp maybe in a sense) so a Les Paul Standard (the solid one is the Les Paul Traditional in which case I do not need it on the cover over the nut) or an es-339. Gotta say, to me it probably still would sound better than a any Les Paul. (maybe, maybe not).

??

Stumped at the moment.

And this guy does not help either because he can actually play guitar better than a lot of others including me.

But an earlier video of the guitar, and not a later version. (if that means anything)

Also the guitar (es-339) is different, but to me in a good way, except still different than a es-335. Well, I can not describe it exactly but different but nice.

Oh, someone described the es-335 as the older bigger sister, and the es-339 as the younger smaller sister.
