Blackstar Fly and Roland Micro Cube

Hi,

Never posted here before. I was wondering if anyone has experience comparing the Blackstar Fly with the Roland Micro Cube. I bought the Fly at my local GC, and a used Roland Micro Cube is available on craigslist near me for about the same price. It's a hike though, so I thought I would ask here. The Micro Cube is normally more than 2x the price.

I will be using it to living room practice mostly on a 1973 Guild S-90. The Blackstar does not have a lot of bottom, but don't know if I should expect better with Roland.

Btw, the Blackstar is pretty cool for its size and price.

Thanks for any help.

I have a Micro Cube which I bought cheap s/h and I'm very happy with it. It does what it says on the tin, as they say.

All the amp models are ok at least (mine is an older one) and it has some basic reverb or chorus etc too, plus gain and volume.

The batteries last much longer than I expected and I've done 2 outdoor gigs with it amplifying my guitar in a jazz duo.

However the speaker is very small and there is only one tone control so don't expect too much bass, though it does ok IMO.

I have both (I got the Blackstar free with a magazine subscription) and the Roland is in a different far different class to the Blackstar. I even used the Roland on battery's for small jam sessions when there was a shortage of power adapters. There pretty good.

I can't speak to either one you are asking about, I just want to add to your choices. In about the same power and size category as the Roland, check out the VOX Mini G2. The batteries seem to last and last and the tones available are pretty impressive; there's a boutique amp setting that gives beautiful clean tones. Worth exploring.
