Ordered this baby in and it arrived last evening. Went with Ebony because I love the flat finish...looks raw and mean....lol. Needed a tweak on the set-up and my brand/gauge of strings put on....plays like butter and the mini hum buckers sound fantastic! Feels good to have a brand new Gibby after having taken last year off.

It has the volute and the neck is slim, but not quite 60's slim, just a tad beefier. Time to go play!!!

That's a beauty!!! I just picked up a 2012 in Silverburst a week or so ago, amazing player.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

You've got yourself an excellent guitar.

I have the 2012 version of this instrument, with the mini humbuckers, the '70s style block inlays, the maple neck with volute.

Mine has the baked maple fretboard, which I really like a lot. Yours has rosewood. The neck carve on this model was described by

Gibson as "70s thin to thick carve" which meant nothing to me... never heard of it. The way I would describe the neck on this model

is 'Fast and comfortable" like any SG neck, thick or thin. SG necks are the best.

My 2012 SG was sold as "SG special '70s tribute." This means it's not a replica, but an attempt to invoke the mojo of '70s SGs

and the music they made while correcting the flaws of the originals. If you really want it to look '70s, put speed knobs on it. All '70s SGs came with

those. I put witch hats on mine, not being a stickler in any way.

To me, the SG with mini humbuckers has a unique voice all it's own. That was one of the attractions for me, plus the block inlays.

Mine is also a silverburst. I took some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound to the satin finish on mine, and polished it so it's a little

shinier, but not too shiny. Meguiar's is an automotive buffing product, you rub it by hand. Not necessary, the satin finish looks

fine. I just really like this guitar.

Fast and comfortable is an accurate description of the neck for sure. The rosewood fretboard has quite a nice grain and different shades of color. I picked the guitar up Thursday evening and started a home renovation project Friday morning, so, I've only had about 30 min playtime so far. The reno will be about another week, so, I'll put some wear on her then!

Nice score!

I bought one of those — back when they were called the "70s Tribute". But then, I got the P-90 bug, and returned it for a '50s Tribute… which I recently put a mini humbucker in place of the neck P-90. Now it looks like a combination of the '70s Tribute and '50s Tribute. I guess it's now a '60s Tribute! LOL!

Those mini humbuckers are pretty sweet-sounding. Congrats!
