kelly campbell
If you want to express what kind that is fine but I am really looking for percentage of how many do or don't. I actually have both on different guitars.
j45nick
I actually have both on different guitars. That's the problem with your survey question. I have two guitars that I use coated strings on, in both cases because the strings on those guitars rarely get changed, and the tone of those two guitars is non-critical. On all my other guitars, I use non-coated strings, because I don't really like coated strings.
BluesKing777
I have been using Elixir PB Nano 12s on everything except my Nationals (for slide). I have really enjoyed using them - I tried the 80/20s and Poly but do prefer the PB. Great strings when you a couple of extra guitars and you don't want to spend half your weekend mowing the lawn and changing guitar strings! They would last about 450 years with my bare fingers playing, but I do have one friend that must eat some fried chicken, a hot dog and some grease before he comes over - every guitar he touched has the coating worn off in spots! He would probably need stainless steel strings! BluesKing777.
MissouriPicker
I really don't know anymore. I used to think that Elixirs were "the" coated strings, but over the last few years I find that lots of strings are coated. So, I assume that I now on-one-guitar-or-another use coated strings. duluthdan
I use Martin Lifespan 13s on the D-35, and still have a few packs of the Nanowebs that will feed the Martin once the ifespans are gone. Got a great deal on the Martin strings. My Gibbys all have Kurt Mangan 12 and 13 on them, mostly 80/20 sometimes PB for the TV.
OldCowboy
I'd use whatever works best and so far the coated ones don't.

kelly campbell
I guess I should have said which do you prefer. I have a couple that I have used the coated on but the more I go back to non, the more I like the tone. Anyway if you have both on different guitars which do you prefer? EuroAussie
Like Nicke a key option was missing in 'both' as it can very from guitar to guitar. However I voted 'no' because its my preferred choice. I do use Elixirs on the J-150 but its mainly a trade off because i gig a lot with this guitar and i like to have a fresh sounding tone coming from the string for a long period, which Elxers deliver. Also the Elixers sound quite good on the maple jumbo, but not as good as the uncoated DR Sunbeams. All the other gits in the stable have uncoated strings. Mafy31
Clearly prefer no coated strings, 80/20 (martins SP 80/20 on gibsons acoustics). I find them to give a deep, rich full sound.
