btoth76
The Custom V is very nice. Looking at it I was thinking, how great it would be to have an affordable, cosmetically simplified version of it, á la "Classic Custom". Then, I readed the specs. Richlite board, acrylic inlays...what? For 5000-plus? Hm... Prices went insane. Anyways, two days ago I have pre-ordered something very exciting. ;) Bence. Id never buy one unless I some how came in to some money... Even then, theres lots of other stuff I like just as much but is much cheaper... But they are pretty.. And hey we all know this stuff sells so good luck to who ever can afford one :) And that sounds interesting.. Something exciting... A 59 Burst? :P
btoth76
Hello Rabs! Not as exciting as a Burst, though, but an innovative product. Something that's due to technical evolution makes the quality of high-end instruments affordable for the average guy like me. It's too early to say much as the demand is high for it. If I am lucky, 10 days from now I will have some sleepless nights (and my neighbours as well). Bence.
capmaster
... Pickups: Hot 498R and 496T humbuckers ... I guess 496R and 498T, but... There obviously is something wrong with the specs on the product page saying ceramic magnet for the 498T. Me thinks it's an AlNiCo 5, or AlNiCo V for those preferring Roman figures. :) The pickup had to be spelt IID T then :P I'm also not sure about the stainless steel slugs claimed. I always thought Gibson uses nickel - am I wrong?
btoth76
Hello Capmaster! I have noticed the ceramic magnets of the 498T too. Also, the audio taper tone pots are suspicious... Bence.

Audio taper tone pots are common all around, but audio taper volume pots not so much in Gibsons.

I think the whole point of these Axcess guitars is that they are more "modern" with the belly cuts and access neck and trem if wanted.. So im guessing the pups are hotter than the usual Alnico offering.....

Then there are the 500T and the Dirty Fingers featuring three ceramic magnets each, but the 498T? They always were AlNiCo 5-loaded. I don't think they use the same denomination for pickups with different magnets.

I donno.. who comes up with this stuff? (or more to the point approves it) I just then went and looked at the one with the trem and it says Powerful 496R and 498T humbuckers ??? :)
