EuroAussie
Perhaps doing the dual octave thing on the Nick Cave track was a bit of a stretch. Maybe this one is a bit more of a 'suitable' choice - still a lot going on in there across a couple octaves, but overall more controlled. I work from home and one practice method that works is while im working on some presentaiton is to put headphones on, mike close by and monitor on garageband, and just sing along to songs i want to practice. This was one of them, so i grabbed the SJ and took a run at it sitting in one shot. What do you think ? https://soundcloud.com/euroaussie/wonderwall-ryan-adams cheers, Ea

Avery
Hey EA, I liked it overall. You have a cool sound and a good bit of range there too. I listened to Ryan Adams sing this one right before yours. You've got a bit of the Bon Dylan mumble going on, which I like, but maybe not in heavy doses. Ryan Adams is really able to vary the dynamics. Keeping it soft for the beginning, adding a lot of power to "I don't believe". This gives the song a wide dynamic range. With the Dylan mumble throughout, everything is a similar dynamic style. And you've got to mix it up. IOW, don't let the lyrics slip out; really own them and drive them. And then you can really vary their intensity, and emotion. I wish I had your range, btw. Lars68
Very nice playing and singing. I really enjoyed your take on the song. However, I find it hard to hear the words, even though I know the song fairly well. Lars
EuroAussie
Thanks guys, and good call about the mumbling bit. I do have a tendency to sometimes not let out the worlds as clearly as they should be. I will work on that. Appreciate that feedback, it was a good catch. Mafy31
Enjoyed that much EA. Your voice is nice, you have a nice timber. I just wish sometimes you would unleash the beast and not be afraid to increase the volume. I tend to believe singing is like bodybuilding. If you shout, and hurt your vocal folds trying to hit difficult notes (without using a "head" voice), slowly time after time, they become easier and easier to reach until it is not a problem anymore. What guitar did you use?

What guitar did you use? What, and get out of my precious comfort zone .. ? As also Avery pointed out Ryan Adams uses dynamics really well, he doesnt have a really powerful voice but creates a lot of shades with what he has. I think i could definitely still be more dynamic here, but Im not sure if this is the song to 'let the beast out'. It sort of needs quite a bit of restraint I feel, as opposed to the Oasis version. I might audition for the new singer for AC/DC as it seems they need one, that could be a good opp to let it out. Although we do sing HIghway To Hell in our gigs near the end. My partner does all the vocals, I just let it rip with the final line ...... Im On A Highway To Hell ..... Arghhhhhh :-) The guitar was the Southern Jumbo with brand new strings, hence quite jangly and bright but I think the sparkle was good for the track. With people dancing and drinking around, great memories i guess. Though i was hoping at the end you would jump and roll on the bar "Angus style" but nothing... kinda disappointing
fretplay
This song is seriously up for interpretation and you have certainly done a good job at doing that with it EA. I like it, very different version which is exactly what Ryan Adams did with the Oasis version. I had a go at Wonderwall, I did my best not to sound like Oasis or Ryan Adams, sounds like this ............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXYVN9srIII
