Very nice FB. If Tom Waits covered this song I imagine thats how it would sound like.

btw: did you lose weight ?

I swear you look thinner in this vid, or is it just the short sleeves that were not accustomed seeing you in ?

Thanks Sal - I remember seeing this in your set list

Cheers KW and thanks Mr V.Tile

Nick I knew you'd know the feller. You know the good ones.Yea Blues on the Ceiling is a nice tune too.

EA, lost weight!?! The clip is a few weeks old.I never bothered posting when I did it.The blue T shirt must be slimming.I'm still a somewhat portly gent.I'll think I'll buy 6 more blue T shirts this weekend.

Dan I just had a look.I think this song was in D.So that would have been a Hohner Blues Harp.I do have a couple of Lee Oscars...but not a D.

Thanks Kelly.Check out some Fred Neil, you'll probably like him.

L5 Larry.Appreciate the nice comment!

MP yep add this one to your set list.Suits you sir.

Hey that was great. Like the kind of melancholy and weary vibe you bring to this.

(But what this song really brings to my mind is Borat accosting random people in NYC. I think this song was playing during that scene.)

Not to hijack FB's excellent thread, but here's a link to Neil's own version of his song. Lots of good stuff of his on youtube. You can hear his big ol' 12-string dreadnought ring on this one, and get an idea of the incredible baritone voice he had.

Oh, I like this a lot, John. I loved this song, way back when it first hit the air waves, and I remember sitting with my thumb on the transistor radio dial, waiting for the dj to start talking over the fade-out, which was my cue to flip to the other station and wait for the next play. (For any of you Chicagolanders, you'll know I was switching between WLS and WCQL...)

I love the internet and my mp3 player, but...something about this song--and your lovely iteration--stirs up the old sweet anticipation of waiting in the dark for those opening notes to begin.

You do it proud.

Thanks Anne.I always enjoy your musical recollections.Your love of music always comes through in these vivid descriptions of your/our collective early formative radio days, albums, songs and artists.

And thanks Nick for the Youtube link to Fred Neil.I did some more listening after posting the song.Lots to like in his repertoire. There's a good version of this song by Steve Stills, with some (I think) Crosby harmonies - lurking on youtube too.
