Soundhole pickup

Can anyone recommend a soundhole pickup for my J-50 or AJ? My buddies and I have some house party type gigs lined up and would like to lightly amplify. The J-50 has an UST pickup but frankly it's not that good. Don't want to commit to something like a K&K for now either.

Thanks,

Charlie

The Baggs M1A is a don't sound hole pup. With the right EQ, it sounds pretty damn good. I have one in my Martin D15m.

Also... I have a spare DMarzo DP136 RW. It costs about ninety bucks and is pretty good. That might fit the bill for you. Mine is little used, if you want it, send me an email with a reasonable offer. salarnuk at gmail dot com

I have had good results as well with the Baggs M1A, but did recently upgrade to the Baggs M80. Baggs claims it gets more sound from inside the guitar and less from the strings. To my ears this has proved to be the case (especially when I adjust the pole pieces way down, further from the strings) so the extra dollars were worth it. But you can't go wrong with the M1A.

Im on the other hand not fond at all of the M1 Baggs pickup as I find the tone quite electric and 'phasey' sounding. I have a Fishman rare earth blend that i quite like which has humbucker and mike blend. Can be hooked in a couple mins, great tone at low volume. Use it on the vintage gits and the Martin.

Thanks to all who replied. Seemed like a tie between the Baggs M1A and Fishman Rare Earth with regards to recommendations.

I just happened to be near Fuller's today so I stopped in - they had the Fishman but did not stock the Baggs - picked up the Fishman. I should be able to get around to trying it out plugged in next week (my amp is off site at a space where buddies and I jam). I'll let y'all know how it sounds.

Fuller's is a fun place to shop. While I was looking over the pickup, one salesman there (Harlem Slim) was doing some ragtime on a very nice OOO (I believe) slot head rosewood Martin, demonstrating for a customer - it was magical.
