The pick guard I didn't screw to the wood, not sure about that yet. Love the 57-57+ pups. I like the thicker 50 necks with the later style neck joints, and the inlays minus the Batwing PG to me just add to the entire package. It kinda makes the SG an odd ball but I like those features together.

Congrats!

I like the small pickguard. It adds a more classic look.

Also a big fan of the 57s. Wish Gibson made more SG models with them instead of the 490s; the highs are sweeter and the mids are more pleasant with the 57s.

Nice catch, looks great! [wub] Congrats, Golden! [thumbup]

To be honest, I would leave the pickguard off. One can't undrill holes, and she looks VERY pretty without, at least to me! [biggrin]

One of my SGs is "naked" and I don't miss a pickguard in any respect. Moreover, I put all of my Les Paul pickguards supplied from the factory on the shelf, too. B) I love viewing neat timbers under transparent finishes. [love]

I was thinking the same, it came with the PG and the original owner also thought the same.

Congratulations! Looks like a great SG; this 2013 Tributes seem to have been incredibly popular; lucky you managed to find one?!

Thanks, yeah I played a few but they were high, I been kinda passively waiting for one for a decent price and thought I was basically out of luck, then it appeared on Craigslist recently.

Yeah, I also am fond of the 57-57+ combination. Back in 13 I played one very similar in Pitt-PA, a fellow had it upgraded with the PG, Chrome p-u covers and the original tuners. Look and played great and stuck in my mind since then.

Thanks

I pulled the dirty fingers out of mine and put 57/57+ in them too. Love the sound. Also put a tusq nut on it.

Same basic design on the SG. I seen a ebony 70 that was real nice with the DFs in it. The 57-57 plus in the SG rock though, I think that set was made for the SG.

Also this particular basic SG special design, it ought to be in the line of SGs imho for a entry level SG. It just works very well, 24 fret with traps, the 57-57+ ought to be standard issue on the SG special. [biggrin] I think Gibson ought to offer this along with the 2016 Faded for the same price imho.

Yeah, I thought about it and looked at a few different patterns.

Or anodized Gold to match the headstock! [thumbup]

The PG above came with it, I kinda agree with above also I would use double sided tape and not drill on the front.

Don't know I kinda like straight black also without the multi ply.

That said, it plays well and I am enjoying it in the meantime.
