philfish Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Anticipating a new song post with that beauty. Fishing must be a little slow
62burst Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 So this is the one . . . the Hummingbird Vintage; the one that made you lose your ukes-only religion. That speaks well for both the guitar, and the player. Congrats. and Welcome back.
BigKahune Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 . What the heck?!? . It can't be. Wait. . It's trick photography. It's a uke made up like a hummingbird snapped in a doll house! B) .
Fullmental Alpinist Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I can't believe you broke down and got it! It's so nice. And I know it cost you an arm and a leg. A couple of questions: Is it Naugahyde or leather? Shiatsu massage? Heated cushions? Electric hoist to help you stand up? Wow! What a way to spend retirement. FMA PS: And if it took a 2016 Vintage to get you back to git playing I really better go out and check them out for myself, although it'll probably be a J-45 Vintage for me. Welcome back. A song please!
Dave in SLC Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 What a gorgeous guitar! (And I have not previously considered any of the 'Birds.. :) ) Dave in SLC
Buc McMaster Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 No sir, BBG.........whatever it was I gave you is yours........enjoy! The guitar is pretty fine. Neck set is most excellent and though it plays quite nicely out of the box I do intend to drop the saddle just a bit. But yikes! Having played the ukulele for a couple years now I have no callouses and boy howdy my fingers hurt! That'll get better soon enough. I was told Gibson did not make the 2016 Vintage left handed but I called my old buddy and sure enough he had one! Had a J-45 Vintage also. Played them both for as long as my fingers could stand it and chose the Hummingbird. (Spent some time playing a Gretsch 6120 also, remembering the old band! Nothing like a hollow body Gretsch for tone & playability!) Why did I buy a guitar again? Damned if I know! Seemed like the thing to do, so here we go!
MorrisrownSal Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Music is about to get kicked up a notch on the forum! Outstanding Buc!
MissouriPicker Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Congrats, Buc. Welcome back home...lol....Looking-forward to hearing some great tunes from that beautiful guitar.
Joe M Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Best news I've heard on this forum in a while.....can't wait to hear that HB sing. Welcome back.
BluesKing777 Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Congratulations! Looking forward to some tunes on that guitar! Don't overdo it to begin with - might give yourself an injury. BluesKing777.
Murph Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 . Wait. . It's trick photography. Yep. It's obviously a right handed chair......
aliasphobias Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Yup, that's a beauty Buc! As others have suggested, a little tune when the fingers are up to it.
fortyearspickn Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Well Played, Sir! Hope your visits and song offerings are more frequent now!! For some reason - I've found the H'Bird TV the most comfortable guitar to play. I'm sure this will be a keeper for you. Watch out for blisters! And, of course, having had a relapse - a recurrence of GAS. So - what was the first song you played on her?
Buc McMaster Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 So - what was the first song you played on her? Marty Robbins' Devil Woman. Go figure.
