I just thought I'd share. This is a picture of John Dillinger who was the first man put on the FBI's most wanted list. John is on the left. He was gunned down in Chicago as he left a movie theater. The guy in the middle is Harry Pierpont who was executed in the Ohio electric chair for murdering a jail guard while breaking Dillinger out of a jail. The hansom fella on the right is my great grandfather Elmer "Happy" Balser. He died of natural causes in the year before I was born.

My grandmother on mom's side was a Barrows. Im related to Clyde. My father tells me of a story of when he was a little boy in Chicago. That my grandmother had carried him and my uncle to the doctors office. It just so happened this doctrs office was upstairs over the bank. While they were upstairs, the bank was robbed by Pretty Boy Floyd. They sat on the landing ( the door down stairs that went into the bank had bullet holes in it) till the cops came and got them.

I just love the picture not so much for the connections of my ancestors to notorious gangsters, but for the snap shot of the 30's-40's time era. Take a look at the shoes. Right out of an episode of "The Untouchables", which was an old TV series which depicted an FBI agent (Elliot Ness) and his fight against organized crime.

My mother used to like to tell the story aboutm how she got to school with Al Capone. He had some nephews in the neighborhood and would occasionally give them and their friends rides and one day my mother was hanging with them when "Uncle Al " came by and she got a "ride" withCapone. It was in a black Cadillac.
