Hi,

I need help finding information about this guitar. It is an ES 330 Historic Sunburst finish the serial number is 52119. I couldn’t find any information about this type of serial number. Can somebody tell me what the numbers stand for?

.

According to the Gibson serial site, that's a ES-345 serial - http://www.gibson.com/Support/Serial-Number-Search.aspx

Historic ES MODELS (since 1995):

{A or B}-MYRRR

M is the model year being reissued

Y is the production year

RRR indicates the guitar's place in the sequence of Historic ES production for that year.

Reissue model codes:

2= ES-295

3= 1963 ES-335 (block inlays)

4= ES-330

5= ES-345

9 with an "A" prefix = 1959 ES-335 (dot inlays)

9 with a "B" prefix= ES-355

I inherited what I believe to be a 1959 Gibson ES 330 TD. It has the P90 pickups and a 2532  stamped on the back of the head stock. Trying to verify year, make and value. It is a one owner in excellent shape with the sunburst color and wide neck connecting at the 16th fret. Has the Bigsby vibrato added.

Reverb.com. Look at all the ones for sale and their descriptions.

Also. Google.com

Your serial number means nothing except its the unique number assigned to your guitar, it may let you know it was a Custom shop guitar, but it is still just a number on a guitar, and may clue you into the date it was made, if  it followed one of the 100 times the way a serial number was done on that guitar, and sometimes not. The other longer code tells you more about your guitar like finish, and other stuff. But the serial number is just a number. Does the VIN on your car tell you anything about your car? Nope.

If and when you have the guitar in front of you, you can see what inlays are on it and what color it is and if the metal is nickle or gold. The only thing is you may not be able to identify is the pups without taking them out.

Hey, Sean - There's a Gibson ES-330 Owners group on Facebook that could be a big help to you. There are people there who truly know 330s inside and out. Check it out.

I have what appears to be a parlor style guitar with serial number 3301 stamped on the back of the head stock. Anyone have any info on this?

If you're inquiring about the year of manufacture, it's either 1963 or 1967.  If you can provide photos, we can probably tell you which year.  From http://www.guitarhq.com/gibson.html#serial :

Gibson Serial Numbers, Feb 1961 to 1970.

    • All models, stamped in back top of peghead. No "MADE IN USA" stamp below serial number! Note many serial numbers are duplicated from 1963-1969. In these cases, to figure out which is the exact year for a guitar, see the General Specs section for more details. ALSO note: It is easy to confuse 5 digit and 6 digit serial numbers from this era, and hence get the wrong year for a guitar. That is, 55555 is not the same number as 555555 (but when reading the number off the back of a Gibson peghead, these two numbers do look very similar!)
      Range              Year
      -----              ----
      0100   to 42440    1961
      42441  to 61180    1962
      61450  to 64222    1963
      64240  to 71040    1964
      71041  to 96600    1962, a few from 1963/1964
      96601  to 99999    1963
      000001 to 099999   1967  (all 6 digit numbers
                                starting with "0" are 1967)
      100000 to 106099   1963 or 1967

My source for serial#'s also says 1963 or 1967. You could measure the nut width. The '63 will be 1 11/16" and the '67 would be the narrower 1 9/16" width.
