BluesKing777 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I have a multi-tool type string cutter/bridge pin puller/string winder in my little Gibson tin that is taking up space for nothing. It cuts strings nicely but the string winder is useless and possibly dangerous and the bridge pin puller is there to gouge a large hole in a nice guitar. It shall remain nameless so I don't get sued. I generally use a nice pair of little plyers and a nice Shubb bridge pin puller. Wind by hand.... Truly of the useless junk variety until this MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is the middle of winter here and my snow survival ski coat for walking the Hound arrived yesterday by mail - the nitwits that sent it left an anti-theft device in the zipper! Won't open - can't budge - will probably have to go to the shop to get it removed. This morning....tried brute force and every tool I have, but don't want to wreck the new coat zip...thinking, thinking, thinking....THE STRING CUTTER - perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!! Slipped it gently between the bits and zips and material and snip! Knew I hoarded that thing for something!!!! [thumbup] BluesKing777.
kidblast Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I just read "middle of winter here" and my brain kind-a went numb... in the northern hemisphere and we're just getting used to Summer... so yea,... thanks for the reminder!!! :) I don't have any use for these multi-tools either, imagine the horror if it fell out of ones hand in a moment of clumsy-ness while trying to pull bridge pins,,,. uhmmmm,, yea... ... no.......
OldCowboy Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I own one - it's, um, ah, now let's see... where the hell IS that thing?
Murph Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I keep this on my belt. If this won't get it done, I'll go to the truck......
drathbun Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 This is what I use to pull stubborn pins. It fits over the head of the pin and you pull straight up. It is never a hazard to the guitar top. https://www.long-mcquade.com/65111/Guitars/Accessories/Bigrock_Engineering/SNAPZ_Bridge_Pin_Puller.htm
