Gear Lust

EVOL!

As a cat that has been playing for almost three decades, it is not that often I get a raging case of gear lust anymore, but when I started investigating the new Ernie Ball St. Vincent guitar it was too much. The odd design, mahogany body, three mini humbuckers, and a rosewood neck are interesting. I think my only issue is the one piece bridge. I've been an SG and Jazzmaster player for so long I am used to having an extra area to strum to generate noise.

Here is the skinny on this beauty - http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/23539-ernie-ballmusic-man-st-vincent-review

I'd love to play one to see how it feels. The $1800+ price tag is beyond what I could justify spending for a guitar (and might get me thrown out of the house by my wife), so a lot of this pining is for naught and eventually I'll get over it. Maybe.

hmmm... that's a whole lotta ugly for just south of $2k..

I've seen a burst one, if that catches your eye ;)

Hmm..............

Actually I find that rather an, erm, intriguing style.

I'm sure it's, eh, distinctive looks would grow on me and the review says ergonomically it's great.

Not sure about the mini-hums, though.

Original.

Are you sure, EVOL? According to the text it's only available in blue or black.

Might you be thinking of the Armada which came out a few years ago? I sort-of liked that one, too;

Odd. The main snap again says only black or blue but there's a 'burst version in the link and I remember clearly seeing a 'burst option in the specs page when it came out.

I like the concept and the tones available are varied...

Puts one in mind of a Stratty Firebird...

I guess it will be too aesthetically challenging for many

If I had the spare 'folding' I would have one for fun

But it's not going to happen

Why did you have to post this. I guess there really is love at first sight.

I love everything about that guitar. The color, the design, the knobs.

Screw you EVOL!, screw you.

Oooohhhh............

I dig, baby! I DIG!!!

Nice!!!

It looks like what Calvin and Hobbes would use.

I could go so far off-topic here it would be ridiculous.

I have to agree.

It's so very wrong in so many ways it's actually Absolutely Right!

Almost exactly like what you would get if you asked Georges Braque to design a guitar......................

The 'Screw Thank You For Having Posted This' refrain is growing in number!.........LOL!

Would like very much to see Albert Lee play one of these... [thumbup]

It's funny you say that, because when I was reading thru the thread, I thought to myself, "That St Vincent guitar is nice, but I much prefer the Albert Lee signature model"..........

Love the idea of three mini humbuckers. [thumbup] There are some cool switching options available in the stock five way, But I might be tempted to wire up a series mod as well. :-k

Yes a great guitar with great tones... [thumbup]

I've seen clips of Albert playing S/C and H/B Music Man's...as well as many Telecasters, both S/C and H/B....often with B-Benders...

All of you cats tagging this guitar as ugly, I wonder how many of you dig Explorers or had a BC Rich in the 80s.

People that live in glass houses...
